Welcome to the forums showusyourbox. :welcome:

The blue chants were "banned" for recordings starting from early 2007 meaning that they were no longer seen in shows shown on-screen from July. Sometimes they would apparently edit them out for shows broadcast in early summer 2007. They were at their "height" between February and May 2007, when they would sometimes chant right at the start of the game!

They received a mostly negative reaction from people on here and presumably from others too, hence why they were dropped. However, they were heard again in one episode in January 2008, and also again in Hayley's game the other day and Allan's game yesterday. I hope they're not making a come back. :(

The main threads discussing them can be found here:

http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8592

http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.phpt=8452

http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8118

http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6562

As you can see, it was quite a hotly debated subject at the time.

I think in Hayleys game he was encouraging as when they started he did say "Yes come on"

In Allans game i think he said it was getting irritating,

but i think it could have just been those two episodes as i think they were filmed on the same day, so maybe tomorrows game will see a new set of audience who wont do the chanting!

Use it VERY sparingly!

Eg when it was used in Hayley's game it was kept in the final edit to make it look like everyone was encouraging a blue...of ourse forgetting that the chants usually jinxed it and it didn't work.

When they were first used they were used correctly. Then last spring they were milked into overdrive. That's why they don't work no more ;)

Shouting blue, blue, blue, no matter how loudly, or quietly, or sparingly or frequently, will UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES magically change the contents of a box containing a red to a blue :P It is pointless :x

When i was on the show the week after xmas one of the contestants started the blue chant which has been very taboo for some time and you could see by the look on Noels face that he did,nt like it but i don,t think for one minute that the so called contestant new that it had been banned. Why i think it was stopped was if you spoke to people about the show they would say "OH THATS NOT THE SHOW WHERE THEY KEEP SAYING BLUE BLUE BLUE IT GETS ON MY NERVES " it was said to me a few times over the years whenever i talked about the show to anyone so it did,nt do the show any favours, i think it was a stupid thing to do in the first place.

Chanting blue gives more air of positivity and uproar. I think it's great, and don't know why the hell it was banned :x

because it's quite frankly the most irritating thing ever. We also had a return of the hand-holding the other day... :x

Fortunately, the shows for July 08 that I went to see had no hint of the chanting, so it's all good. :)

At least when they hold hands, you can hear what they're saying still!

Because it invariably produced reds at the wrong time.

Ah... but it doesn't change the amount in the box, does it ;)

You don't get the chance to learn about some contestants, because Noel can't speak to them in the middle of a blue chant...

Of course not but it was usually used when a red being discovered would wreck the game.

Yesterday I went to see two shows recorded, before the first show started the audience were specifically instructed not to use the blue chant, and we were jokingly told that if anybody did start a blue chant they would be thrown out of the studio.

I have been in the audience before, but this was the first time we told not to use the blue chant, so I am glad to say it seems they are well and truly banned

Interesting that they've totally officially banned it now. I bet they regret they ever started the blue chanting.

I do like to here it on occasion. It's good to have, but only at times, like these twists.

The "blue" chants are real annoying, just as bad as what the audience do on britain's got talent ("off off off" )

Thank god they're banned. :)
