Hello!

I apologize for not keeping up with the stats and the list of guest bankers lately. I've been too unmotivated to do many things lately. But I think tomorrow I will finally be ready to go through and get organized for the upcoming weeks! :D

This week is a normal week. But next week is week 10, and any weeks that end in 0 and feature an aesthetically pleasing combination of numbers before said zero are special weeks! But how can next week be so special? ...stay tuned! :smt023

Regardless, let's focus on week 9 for the moment. Archstered is guest banker. Here we go...

Round 1

A reminder/disclaimer about how things work here: Anyone can join at any point in the game. I treat everyone as being in live play when they first post and dealing whenever they say deal. So if someone happens across this thread at the end of round 6, they can simply post their final decision and be counted for that week's statistics!

This week's numbers, along with all of the previous weeks, were determined randomly via random.org. Namely, I have this link bookmarked for that purpose. HOWEVER! I would like a volunteer to pick next week's numbers! To determine who will be the lucky chooser, pick a number between 1 and 10 (inclusively)! Whoever is closest will pick the boxes! In the result of a tie, we'll determine a tiebreaker at round 2!

Housekeeping out of the way, let's finally start...

11 - 1p :D

Perfect start!

That is the only blue that will still be there next week...

22 - £3,000

6 - £10 :)

1 - £15,000

We have an interesting alternating blue-red pattern going.

10 - £5 :D

Pretty great opening round, I think. Top six still in play!

I'd offer £13,000 on that board. Also, I choose 6 as the number between 1 and 10.

I was going to go for 9; I'll have, instead, 4 please. :D

DEAL! :smt023

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

What????????????????    That offer is insanely high. If I was playing against the mid-2013 Banker, I'd deal this instantly. However, since I expect the high generosity to continue, I'll say NO DEAL.

Going 1. And while on this evidence I'm clearly not taking the box, I'm not taking this either. NO DEAL.

Next week shenanigans

Number predictions
1: KP
3: JoelDavies
4: daniel123
5: Archstered
6: American Coupon Boy
7: box11

Well, I said pick a number, not necessarily an integer. Those who have paid attention to at least one of my posts would know that I am studying for a PhD in math, and so it's only fitting I would pick a beautiful non-integer number. The number I chose was pi.

Seeing as you all chose integers, however, my number is essentially 3, in which case JoelDavies wins and will choose next week's numbers! :smt023

Next week will be different in that I will be generating the box contents randomly via spreadsheet. By blacking out various cells I can do this without knowing what's going in which box (you'll just have to trust that I won't be looking!). This should make me a fair banker, but if anyone has any reservations with this, I can select someone to be independent adjudicator... though I'd really like everyone to be playing! :D

Did you catch the hint I inserted in round 1? Will you catch the hint that will be ever so subtly inserted in round 2?

Round 2

£17,000 was a brilliant opening offer, but only one person accepted it. Let's see if it pays off for mostly everyone...

2 - £100 :D

This breaks the red-blue pattern from round 1, but in a good way!

9 - £5,000

Excellent! We just need one more good box...

.

.

..

...

.....

........

.............

.....................

..................................

19 - £100,000 :(

If only that weren't the second highest amount on the board... ;)

Wow ok..

Next week seems interesting! :-D

however, week 9 and the game in hand.

I'm not surprised Dan dealt, I would have been tempted myself.

I'm going to offer...

Banker's offer:

£17,000

HOWEVER,

My negotiation allowance gap has widened, so if anybody deals offer 2, I doubt it will be for £17K.

Newly updated list of guest bankers:
Week 10: Saperogo
Week 11: hogwild94
Week 12: American Coupon Boy
Week 13: Skyline

I believe the only additions to the list were ACB (via PM) and Skyline (via request at the end of Week 8). If I missed anyone, please let me know. (Fyi, hogwild94 has been moved from Week 10 to Week 11 because I want to be banker next week. )

If anyone wants to be guest banker, please let me know either via post here or by PM and I will update this list accordingly. (You will be added to the end of the list.)

WOW, who ordered the early 2007 Banker? :ponder: Well, if Archstered is trying to be like the early 2007 Banker, there is still some generosity to chase, so NO DEAL for now.

I'd be cautious, gentlemen; his generosity may well taper off with an alarming abruptness. :suspect:
