Avatars and signatures...meh! Both make your posts look prettier lol! Yeah Paintshop Pro is easier to use but if you cut and crop the pics you're using and pop them together, you can still make signatures like this one, and what was the other one you did for a fan club, Leila wasn't it? They both look simple, yet alright.

All Paintshop Pro would do is allow you to do signatires as good as Unix's lol - nothing to worry about
