Is Laura the most courageous contestant ever to play Deal Or No Deal. This is a straight yes or no answer, but if you vote no you can specify who you think deserves that title. Lynne was voted the most courageous contestant to play Deal Or No Deal when she no dealed to win £75,000. Other contestants who would be considered are Gaz, Trevor (1p), Khanny, Thanh, and Jennifer.

She's definitely one of the top candidates, thats for sure.

I'll compare her against the other candidtaes.

Gaz - he turned down less than Laura with £10k as back up, and only a 4-figure sum when there was a chance of peanuts, so I'd say Laua over Gaz.

Trevor - again, he only turned down £9,900, and even though there was a 60% chance of peanuts, it's nothing like turning down £45k!

Khanny - turning down £48k was really courageous, but he still was offered £12k after a catastrophic round, so was never going to lose it all. Even if he had took out the top 3 in succession, he would still have been offered about £3k - Laura's back up, but with a 1 in 56 chance of happening instead of 1 in 2.

Lynne/Thanh - They only gambled half as much as Laura, with £75k as the potential gain, but they only had a blue rather £3k as fallback. Hmm, depends on how you value money. Lynne was slightly more so than Thanh, as her offer was higher and 10p is worse than £750!

Jennifer - is turning down £52k with a 30% chance of a blue/blue finish, more courageous than turning down £45k with a 50/50 chance of £3k? Who knows? We're in the same sort of territory though.

Conclusion: Lynne, Jennifer and Laura are my top 3 but the order will change depending on how I'm feeling!

Morris took a big risk, but I can't agree that there's a case that Kirsty took more of a risk than Laura.

I voted "no", as I think that the most courageous is still Lynne - she could have ended up going away with 10p, whereas at least Laura had £3k as a backup. Also, I don't know whether I should take this into account or not, but I have been influenced by knowing that Lynne was having financial difficulties, from a post made by her daughter on this forum - therefore, I think Lynne still holds the position of most courageous contestant ever!

I'm going to vote for yes purely because her reluctance to turn down £14,999 quite early on and in the end turn down £45,000 makes her surely the BRAVEST woman EVER!!

Laura's target was £20,000 she turned down this amount plus £45,000 not knowing the amount in her box and could've gone away with £3,000

I adore Gaz's game but have to say Laura was just ever so slightly more braver!

So far 10 people have voted yes, and 11 no, this is a close call! :D

I voted for Laura because her rejection of £19,999 was even braver than Trevor who had a similar situation at the 5 box stage but an offer about 10K lower, and Laura no dealing £45,000 with only £3,000 as the fallback seems braver than Morris and Kirsty. Gaz had a fallback of £10,000. Lynne might compete but let's not forget that although she could have won just 10p, no insurance at all really, she only stood to lose £22,075.90, still a lot of money, but not the kind of loss that Laura would have incurred if £3,000 had been revealed instead of the 250K.

I voted YES

She knocked out some big reds quite early and even though she had a wimpy mate  she carried on going, she said she felt lucky and I believe she knew her Mum was looking down on her.

She took a huge risk and could have gone home with just 3k when she desperatly wanted 20k.

Remember Gary who took home 29k? he took it because it was an amount he had in his head (near enough anyway), Laura was near her amount but had courage and continued to play on.

For me the bravest 2 are Laura and Gaz but people like Matt and Saj have to get a mention as they continued all the way to the end to fight for a smallish amount.

No offence to Laura here, but definitely not!

Whilst £45,000 is undoubtedly a lot of money, there have been other players who have turned down more -- in Morris's case a whole lot more. He risked £81,000 in his game, whereas Laura 'only' risked £42,000. If Laura had been given a six-figure offer like Morris, does anybody here really think she'd have No Dealed?

Probably not, it does annoy me though when people say that this show was "Fixed". Why would they fix sometime like this anyway? I bet in other countries its taken just as long for someone to win the biggest amount?
Sure everyone has their own opinions, but if they fixed this show, it wouldnt still be airing now!

Anyway I agree with rico7 as well, kirsty had a backup of £75k and when for it, the reason Laura did go on is how low the offer actually was and what the other contestants said

I think Lynne was more coragous...

tbh, I think I would have dealt £19,999, and No Dealed £45,000 if I got that far. Quite a few would no deal the 45k I imagine.

Not the bravest the decision in a way was made for her by the banker. Lose 45k or win 205k. Hugh odds in her favour. I said it on a few of the games prior to this the banker was making lower offers to encourage them to go on as the show is better when it goes to the final box. If he had offered say 80k which would have been fair she would have dealt for sure. Was the only way the big money was going to be won was to tempt them to go on and this was to big of odds to turn down. He was giving her nearly 5/1 odds if you look at it form a betting point of view. To big to turn down. The lower the offer the more likely people are to go on.

True, Morris risked £81,000 but he had a reasonable fall back of £20,000, so he was going to be a 5 figure winner whatever happened. I agree though that Laura would definitely have gone if she had received a similar offer to that. You have to ask though why the banker made the offer so ridiculously low (probably because Endemol were desperate for a £250k winner - the last contestant to get the £250k left was offered £107k and quite rightly in my opinion dealt)

I do agree with the fact that the banker made it easy really for her though and Laura herself has said that if he had offered £50k she would have taken it.

Was she brave to go on, undoubtedly she was, the bravest ever, I said yes to the poll but there probably should be a Maybe option!!! :D

FWIW - I would have gone on at that point with that offer

Big not as courageous as laura, who gambles 3k to 250k

I think it depends on how much money you have before you go on the show as to how much you are willing to gamble

Think of it like this, then.

If Morris had Laura's final two, with Laura's £45,000 offer, would he have said No Deal? Absolutely, he would have! But if Laura had Morris's final two with Morris's £101,000 offer, would she have said No Deal? Personally, I can't see that she would have.
