What are your thoughts on Alfie?

He seems quite intense but then again seems popular among the contestants.

What do you think?

I think Alfie is cool, personally I don't judge anyone until i have met them out of all the contestants I have met there are only a couple that I did not like (and no i ain't naming names) but 99.9% of the contestants are great people

Well the point of this forum is that we discuss - and therefore judge - contestants that most of us have never and will never meet.

well i will re-iterate what i said in the other thread about alfie that was deleted, however i quite like alfie as a contestant, it was just his performance in Joey's game that let him down for me.also did anyone notice not only him, but also most of the other male contestants' hands just slightly shaking a little when they were opening the boxes? i wonder why that could be.......... ;)

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

He certainly gets into the games, he is regularly either crying or on the brink of it. The manic blowing of kisses he does to contestants including Joey is a very full-on. Also, his "It's blue, I promise you, I promise you, I promise you, I promise you" rant (as he opened a high-red box!) was very bizarre.

It might be that he is just an emotional person and cares about his fellow contestants' fortunes. However, it could also be that as it seemingly was with GK, it is all about "Look at me! I'm a nice person!"

He's certainly a memorable contestant, though. Can't WAIT to see how emotional he gets when it is his own game!

I think he's a superb contestant and will make great TV when it is his game!

You're wrong.Wrong about the emotion. Actually, Although he DOESN'T show the emotion alot, you can sometimes sense it.And it was his rant and constant blowing kisses that *beep*ed me off in Joey's game, and let him down completely for me.However he didnt go near wrecking her game so i owe him something for that.

I think what we have to remember is that the group of 22 at any one time don't just meet up in the studio, but they also meet up in the hotel afterwards - and they also meet each other's friends and relatives, and also bid farewell to the players who have just played, and welcome the newbies, of which there are three on any one day of filming.

The point I'm making is that, not only does a lot get edited out when they film the show, but a lot also goes on behind scenes that we will never get to see, so it is quite possible that Alfie is great emotional support for the other players when they are in the hotel, hence why he gets so emotional during games.

He is so entertaining - not always for the right reasons! - that it will be a shame when he leaves. I like a bit of emotion.

Why do you owe him for that? Did you get some of her winnings or something? Are you related to her or a friend or something?

The point made about contestants getting nervous and emotional when opening boxes can best be understood like this- imagine you have to open up a letter with exam results of a friend and read them out to your friend, you might just get a little tense!

It is an interesting analogy. But I am talking about how one contestant gets a hundred times more emotional than the others.

I think this is exactly why the show is so popular, everyone is different and will all react in their own unique way.

The different personalities make the show what it is, as Noel calls it 'An entertainment drama' and some people will openly show more emotion than others.

It's just like any situation in life, put a group of people together from all walks of life and you will get varied emotions from them all.

I do think Alfie's game could get emotional as he does appear to get really involved in everyone's game. But you have to remember the contestants spend nearly all their time together for 2 to 3 weeks at the studio filming and back at the hotel at the end of the day, they are bound to show emotion and get involved in their fellow contestants games.

I think an interesting contrast is in Wrighty and Alfie. I think Wrighty did the supportive and emotional thing perfectly but I feel that in Alfie's mind the whole show revolves around him, hence him having to be the first to tell people he's only just met that he "loves em to bits", the first to praise them, the first to sniff back the 'tears' when the camera is on him, the first to shout "blue blue blue" and so on. Wrighty was a gent, I think Alfie is just an attention-seeker. I know I might be wrong, I am just giving my thoughts.

Sure but exams are things that the friend will - or will not - have worked very hard for. Their exam result will reflect that. Not quite the same as a game show where you win money based on luck.

We're all picked to be a contestant I guess cus we have similar traits.. Two of which is we're all pretty easy going and bonkers!

I often think people can come across as formidable on telly in that show, but in my time there no one was..... However, with the mix of nerves and euphoria, plus emotion, cus you really do get so close to everyone spending 24/7 with them that, I think people can come across as not being a bundle of fun and excitement, plus the way it's edited. Cus it can take anything up to 3 hours to record one show sometimes and they have to fit that into 38 mins

I know that everyone on the wings at the moment, plus before adored Alfie. He was so funny he really was. A real charmer and comedian, but also a real gentleman.

It's not all about what the 22 people on the game think. What about what the millions who watch think?

Chapmanbaxter, you are beginning to annoy me now. It matters more to those who he is around in filming i.e. contestants. Of course contestants want to be seen as being liked by the public, but it is more important to be liked by those who spend the majority of the time at DOND with.

Why am I annoying you? Because you have different views to mine? This is a forum. You have to accept that other members might have different views to you. It's not the end of the world.
