The write-ups to remember shows that were aired 1 to 17 years ago on each day are available on the last page of this thread.

Yes, I was gonna start a 'Happy Jennifer Day!' thread, but I guess this'll do.

Back in 2003, ITV did a show where they'd show early episodes of WWTBAM, and then have interviews with the contestants as they were 'now' (eg, 2003), four/five years on. They should do the same to DOND...maybe add a little onto the More4 repeats, or something?

Can't believe there's not going to be a show on the 1st anniversary of Jennifer day. Would have been appropriate to see the first quarter-millionaire!

Wow! 1 year since Jennifer's game how quickly did that year go, and we were worried when Deal or No Deal was on its summer break :D

Yes, HAPPY JENNIFER DAY, everyone!
Image
(not my picture, found it in another thread)

Everyone should view her game on tape to celebrate, or, if you don't have it (like me :() view the Hall of Fame video here.

Absolutely incredible that it's been an entire year and she's still the biggest winner. She took the previous all-time daytime winnings record (£35,000, by Maurice Cheshire the previous week) and completely shattered it...and the only player to even come CLOSE to beating her is Kirsty, and she turned her £125,000 offer down!

If Jennifer had never played her game, these would have been the biggest winners up to now:
Mally (£54,000) until...
Brenda (£57,000) until...
Germaine (£75,000) followed by Kirsty (£75,000) until...
Gaz (£100,000), which would be the current record. And Lance would have the biggest win by dealing, at £87,000. So, exciting as those games were, they'd have been even more exciting knowing that television history was being set...and had Morris taken £101,000, he'd be the current record holder, and no one would have come close since!

But I'm glad she did play, as her game (easily the best ever episode up to that point) is still an all-time classic, and should be in everyone's top 5, if not top 10. Jennifer, we salute you!

Well worth acknowledging Andy K of DOND and Codex fame who essentially declared war on the banker! He wasn't phased by knocking out the 250K with his first box. A year ago today he won exactly the same amount as was won by Margaret today, £20,000!! How strange is that! Also it's worth remembering that He stood Raj £200 the previous day as insurance when Raj no dealed the £200 offer with 10p and £500 left. Andy won exactly 100 times the amount he was prepared to give away the following day. It's true that you reap what you sow!
:D

It's Sara Day, everyone!
Image
The only person to come close to that dream final two is Jeff. Had he picked David instead of Mary, he'd have had it...although like Sara, he'd already dealt. Kirsty and Tom (and Jennifer, though that was pre-Sara) have had final threes of £250,000, £100,000 and something else, but no matter what box they'd have picked they wouldn't have matched it, as they all had the 'something else' in their box.

It's expected to happen something like 1 in 230 shows, so we're definitely overdue it. Hopefully the next time someone has it, it'll be in active play!
