Yes that's Aaron the stats man from DOND in early 2006, who posted here as "bushy"... on ITV1 right now!

Strange as I was just thinking about him when reading some of the posts involving current contestant Daniel!

And he won convincingly, so will be back in the semi-final in probably a couple of weeks' time.

For those who don't remember his DOND days (was a while ago), here's his game thread.

viewtopic.php?t=677

Will be interesting to compare it with the next statistician's game...

Couldn't have really imagined him on the assault course to be honest...

Still think that he allowed himself to be talked out of a second-offer OPW in his game, and he all but admitted it himself in more than one place. But I can't think of any other ex-DoNDer who could've been on Krypton Factor.

He wasn't bad on the assault course actually, recovered from a shaky start to finish a close second. Obviously good on general knowledge as he's appeared on numerous quiz shows, and absolutely walked the puzzle round!

I guess even pure stats men have enough Wakey in them not to deal at the second offer... or will Daniel prove us wrong and be the first?

Drat - the one episode I miss has Aaron on it. Will have to catch the repeat.

I suppose there's not that many on here now who followed the show from the very early days.

Aaron was actually a mod on here for a while, and was one of the first contestants to give us all the upcoming "who plays when" dates and hints about what was to come! He disappeared from the forum not that long after his game though.

Are you sure you're not misremembering things slightly there? I don't recall Aaron ever expressing any regrets about not accepting his £30k second offer. I've just been looking at the Bother's Bar commentary of his game, and there he did say that it was a tough decision, but that he turned it down because the £250k was still there, and because he "wanted to put on a show". He also said that he was "very happy with the outcome".

I really don't think that he 'allowed himself to be talked out' of dealing. He had his own reasons for going on. (In fact, his 8-box deal was against the wishes of the majority of people in the studio, so he's not someone who was going to be persuaded to do something he didn't want to do.)

...the latter in particular being an irrational reason!! I'll give you that he was happy.

You're right on that point, but was that on any level regret at the £30k, and feeling the need to get out while he was nearly there?

Maybe I'm prejudiced because not only do I have strong views against players being influenced to play on, but I'd personally have taken that £30k with only a little hesitation (though even at the time I conceded I'd only 'probably' take it).

On again now in the semi-final. Made a mess of the opening maths-based round though, only one correct!

Who is Krypton Factor produced by? I'm probably a bit late by saying this, but I caught a glimpse of the credits and the Director is DOND's very own Richard van't Riet...

Not sure, I switched off during the credits...

Congratulations Aaron - good luck for the final!

Ukgameshows.com says it is produced by ITV productions

It's the Final...

Aaron is currently the leader after winning both the Mental and Observation rounds...

Perfect score after 3 rounds! Can anyone catch him?

Don't think he's the best of these on the assault course but should have enough on the final round with his quiz background!

He only got 4 on the assault course but he's still miles ahead going into this General Knowledge round...surely it's his now!

AND IT IS! HE'S SOARING THROUGH THESE QUESTIONS, he wins with a KF of 47!

FANTASTIC! :D

He absolutely destroyed that field, at the start I thought he'd do well to get 2nd or 3rd!

So a DOND legend is the first champion of the revived Krypton Factor! Who could follow him next year?
