DEAL OR NO DEAL VIEWER DONATES £10,000 TO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
Tags: Deal Or No Deal

An anonymous Deal Or No Deal viewer has donated an incredible £10,000 to a children’s hospital after being moved by inspirational contestant Olga Orlandini-Field’s unlucky game.

Fundraiser Olga, 32 had hoped to use her winnings to add to the £30,000 she has already raised for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Williams Syndrome Foundation after she lost her son Gianluca to the condition in 2005, but a disastrous game meant she took home just £5.

The donor was so moved by her story that they telephoned Birmingham Children’s Hospital and offered the money, stipulating that Olga must choose how the money would be spent. It was decided that the money would be used to supply two new portable heart machines for the children’s unit at a cost of £5,000 each.

A Deal Or No Deal spokesman commented “Olga’s story touched everyone at Deal or No Deal, making her unlucky game all the more heartbreaking, so we could not be more delighted that a kind-hearted viewer has made such a generous and valuable donation.”

Olga is continuing to set up fundraising events to raise money for the hospital, including a Summer charity ball in the West Midlands area.

I don't know if this has been posted or not, I searched for it but found nothing.

I wonder why Noel didn't mention that at the start of Tommii's game when he mentioned the anonymous donations made to Harry and Steve's causes. :?

Thats great news, i really liked Olga when she was on the show and was heartbroken when she only got £5 so im chuffed that somebody has donated £10k to that charity!

It just goes to show how generous viewers are cause i bet a lot of people wouldnt give these people a second thought after there games so its nice to see people actually watching there shows, hearing there stories and donating that kind of money to them!

Well the average viewer probably couldn't afford to...

Though it's nice to see there are some kind-hearted souls out there who make these sort of donations. It's a little bit unfair on many of the other players who have played for worthy causes of course but, at the end of the day, not everyone can be helped out by generous (aka. wealthy) people such as the donor in this case.

Does make me wonder though- what kind of people watch the show? I've always imagined it as a show for students, the elderly and the unemployed... not for someone with £10,000 lying spare

That's fantastic news. Olga's game was painful to watch, I'm so pleased that she's been able to buy the machines she wanted.

He recorded the intro to Tommii's show at a later date and it was slotted into the edit, as far as I know.

That's lovely - Olga was a lovely woman, and it's great to hear that she the hospital can get something from her DOND experience :)

Olga was a lovely woman who cared. So it's nice that theres a little bit of redemption she got £10,005 to give to her charity.

Also, I found this on martial arts Carol:

Deal or No Deal windfall for Isleworth woman
Posted by Lucy Proctor on Jul 16, 08 02:46 PM in People
A martial arts fanatic from Isleworth has won £16,000 on hit TV show Deal or No Deal.

Carol Scarrott, 48, from Worton Road, gathered with family and friends to watch herself beat the banker after taking 24 days off from her job as manager of the West Middlesex Hospital's sexual health clinic to take part.

"It was so brilliant," she told the Chronicle after winning last Thursday. "I am a big fan of the show. I didn't have any tactics or aims. I just thought I went with nothing so if I come back with something that's great.

"I made so many fantastic friends on the show and Noel really puts you at ease.

"There is quite a strict selection process to get on to the show, you just have a one in 30,000 chance of getting on, they seem to pick the people with interesting stories."

Carol has a black belt in the martial art of Ji Jitzu and met her husband George, a martial arts teacher, when training at his Brentford club, Kiai Yamabushi Ryu.

On the couple's wedding day George snapped a concrete block in half while it lay on Carol's stomach.

As of yet the high-kicking couple are not sure what they want to spend the money on, but urge anyone who would like to take up martial arts to contact them on georgescarrott@hotmail.com.

[i]beat the banker?[i] - oh yeah, 'cos a wussy £16k deal with £100k in your box is a really good beating :smt023

Having just looked at the Today's Show thread to remind me, it didn't prove to be a very popular game (surprise  )

I even commentated her game. :eyes: The only thing I can remember from it (reading the first page of the commentary) is the banker calling the contestants "street trash" and Charles not liking it.
