20 years ago, in the wake of 2 absolute trainwreck games, Jenni did the FIRST EVER deal at the 3rd offer, accepting what would later become an infamous amount, £26,000! It was not a good decision gameplay-wise, as she missed out on offers of £42,000 and £76,000!! So you can imagine the state of the forum if the game happened 2 years later :eyes:

17 years ago, Mark scored the first OPW of 2008, by scooping up £24,000, in a great game that's perhaps best remembered for being the debut of Walter, one of the most legendary characters in the history of the show! :D

I was busy yesterday, so I missed the anniversary of £75k Mary, 1p Katie, "Screw the banker" Dave and the last game of the "pre-jackpot win" era!

17 years ago today was William's game. The previous game left big shoes to fill, and William had a fairly middle-of-the-road TPW, as he dealt at £15,000, but could've had £18,000 a round earlier, if memory serves. This was also the first time in 29 games (26 if you don't count the Christmas stars specials) where someone dealt before 5-box - the previous 8-box was John at the start of December, more than a month ago!

20 years ago was £3k Pat's game. Her game looked like it was heading down the Irene/Nick path, with no offers really worth taking, despite a reasonable board at the midway point, which slowly fell apart in the later rounds. Bur Pat saved her game at the end by swapping her box and winning £3,000, making it the first ever successful swap in the history of the show :D

19 years ago, Laura became DonD's first ever quarter-millionaire! :D Despite Laura's game being a long-awaited historic moment in the shows history, Laura's win felt like something of a formality at the time, especially when compared to more hard-earned huge wins that followed in the months afterwards. Though more recently, I've grown to appreciate Laura's game and this era of the show a lot more, as everyone on the show seemed so happy at the time, no crying over debts or being scared of letting anyone down if they played on and crashed etc.

17 years ago, Kate had a rather interesting game, where she ended up with a £5/£100k finish, at which point the banker initially offered £17,500, but Kate made a comment about the offer "not being enough". So the banker made a proposal to Kate, by giving her a "Mystery offer", and only revealing what it was if she took it! Kate dealt at the mystery offer and had the £100k in her box, but it was also revealed that she'd accepted an offer of £20,000! :D

19 years ago, Craig played the day after Laura, and boy, did he have big shoes to fill after the events of 24 hours earlier! Inevitably, the banker was in a right mood after the previous game, and despite Craig's desire to follow in the footsteps of Laura, the banker was in a very mean mood, offering him only swaps at the first 3 offers!! After Craig took out the £250k in the 4th round, he was finally given a proper offer, that being a very generous £15,000! But Craig's determination to play the game didn't waver at all, so he played to the end and sadly went away with £10 :(

17 years ago, Pip had a rather interesting game. He had a pretty strong game at 8-box, but dealt at £20,000, after his wife let slip that £20k was hos target, or something?? The proveouts didn't go Pip's way at all, as he still had the £35k, £75k and £250k at 5-box, yet the banker would've stuck at £20,000! :? Unfortunately, things really went wrong in the final round, when Pip had the perfect round and ended up with the "Kirsty" finish, and a final offer of £120,000!! What followed wasa bizarre hypothetical swap where Pip gave away the £250k and brought the £75k to the table :?

Imagine if Pip did take out all the reds after 5-box, it would've made it one of the most controversial OPWs ever!

20 years ago, Jenna had a game that looked like it was destined for disaster and peaked in the low thousands, yet she played to the end and got £5,000, the first player ever to score an OPW by going to the end! :D

19 years, Nicola had the first of many great games in the wake of Laura, by scooping up £35,000 in a game that REALLY deserved to be an OPW, but was denied by the £50k being in Nicola's box!

18 years ago, Kenny produced another great game on this date, by going all the way and winning £20k from his box, in a game that seemed really overlooked! :D

17 years ago, trumpeter Len had a game that sadly didn't go as well as the other games on this date, leaving with £100 :(

Last year, Jay played during the revival era and sadly won £50 :(

15 years ago, Scott, one of the few gamblers of January 2011, no-dealt £20k with the £15k, £35k and £75k in play, only to crash in style by taking out all 3 reds and end up with 50p! :(

16 years ago, David won £21,500 and had a great OPW. The first win above £20k since before Christmas! :D

17 years ago, Eddie dealt at £16k at 5-box and got a surprise OPW by taking out all the reds in the proveout! :D

No way has it been 10 years since Jean had the worst possible and 20 years since Alan nearly had the worst possible opening round!

20 years ago, Vaughan played with a rather overbearing attitude that wouldn't have been tolerated on the show In later seasons, and dealt at £4,900 having turned down £18,000 and saying that "he could earn that in a week" :?

19 years ago, Gabrielle played in her lucky pink slippers and won £15k from her box! :D

18 years ago, MJ won £41,000 in an underrated classic game and one of the very few games of 2008 where the player had the banker on the ropes! :D

17 years ago, Tony was on course to have a huge win, turning down £40k at 5-box, only to crash spectacularly and leave with just 50p! :(

15 years ago, Dave had a pretty strong start, but sadly ended up going home with a blue.....was it £50?

14 years ago, Paul had an incredible game, keeping the top 3 in play and dealing at £70k! :D Despite this, Paul had the £250k in his box, which he actually took quite badly!!

Strange that a man with a similarly nauseating countenance would find Vaughan unpleasant!

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Yesterday marked 14 years since Belinda produced a second huge win in a row, by winning £75,000, but was denied an OPW by the £100k being in her box

Today marks 15 years since the infamous game of Tracey, who initially dealt at £10,000 and looked to have another bog-standard game. Then, after the 22 boxes were opened, an unprecedented fate-altering twist changed everything when three MINIATURE BOXES were brought out, offering Tracy the chance to increase her winnings or leave with nothing!! After some prodding from the banker, Tracy eventually took the risk and won £20,000 in one of the most controversial twists in the history of the show!

20 years ago, Terry played the first game of series 2 of recording and had a great game that looked uncertain at one point, but he kept the £250k until 5-box and dealt at £24,500, scoring a great OPW! :D

20 years ago, Julie sold a 1p box for £33,000, and right up until £88k Alex in October 2010, she had the largest proportional win in the history of the show! :D

Wasn't it around this time in 06 that the "sequence-gate" scandal began?

16 years ago, Debbie did one of the lowest deals ever, by taking 13p! :P

10 years ago, Jen suffered the biggest ever loss to the banker by taking £10,000 and having the £250k and then discovering that she could've doubled her money with box 23, meaning that she squandered a potential £490,000!!

Twenty years ago today, Trevor Bruce was one box away from fulfilling his life's ambition.

Unfortunately, he chose the wrong one.

20 years ago, Wheel of fortune was still on in Australia.....oh sorry, it was the classic game of Aaron, who had the second all-blue opening! :D Although, Noel's bad memory stated that it was first ever all-blue opener, it was the first 5-figure opening offer. Unfortunately, the memories of this game have since been dented by Aaron's err, more recent actions outside of DoND (which was also the case with another contestant on the wings at that time)

17 years ago, Chris played just days before the 1000th show milestone, and had the dubious honour of having the first ever all-blue 8-box!! Though I feel like this game was better remembered for the fact that Noel seemed to forget about it almost instantly!! :smt011

But we've been through all this, maybe I could change it up by commemorating the episodes of Wheel of fortune Australia on this date. All I know is that on this date in 2000, carry-over champion Sue Cushway returned for her 5th night as champion and that's it :P

20 years ago, the mad month of March 2006 ended with Lucy winning £5 after a (recently-usurped) run of 50 shows, followed by Janet becoming the third member of the covered "squid club", the third person to do so that month.

17 years ago, Dutchman Dirk joined the 1p club on the eve of the 1000th show milestone, in one of the most entertaining trainwreck games ever! :-D

13 years ago, Wai Ling played on the only Sunday show to fall on this date, and scored an OPW by dealing at the guv'nor and having a blue in her box! :smt023
