Thanks to THIS website, I filled in the form a few weeks ago and got a telephone interview yesterday! I've been accepted for the audition in less than 2 weeks time. The e-mail I received states that there could be up to 50 people at this session, which lasts less than 2 hrs (there is also another session that day).

Was told there will be a group element and then 5 mins on camera.

Does anyone know what happens at these auditions? Former contestants (Julie & Nick) any advice?

BTW, my audition is in Edinburgh on 28th March.

Congratulations on securing an audition! Do let us know how it goes! I've never been for one, so I can't help you there, but there are lots of current, ex and future contestants on the forums who will give you advice. There are a few members who have been to auditions, and are waiting for that all important call, and I'm sure they'll be happy to give advice too.

Best of luck for the auditions!

Oh- and welcome to the forums!

:D

Hi Jimbo

Congrats on getting the audition, and good luck! My audition's 3 days after yours (t'other end of the country) :D
I haven't got my confirmation email yet though.... :(

So far the advice seems to be "just be yourself" - which is all I plan to be :)

Cheers

Michael

Ok, here goes ...... Kestral maybe we should write this up in a simple way that makes sense and put it as an FAQ ?

After being invited to audition you go the the place (if you arrive early its good as I arrived 15 mins early and still had to queue). When you get into the room they'll stick a pre-prepared sticker with your name and the venue on it and you'll have your photo taken wearing it. Then you'll sit down and have to fill in an epic form - take a pen as they are in short supply :-D You will also need to have a personal reference and a business reference for your form - phone number, email addy etc. The questions on the form range from the mundane to the slightly ridiculous - I can't give you any tips on filling it in as I can't remember what I wrote and besides haven't been selected (yet ;) ) . When you're in the room if you're in a rush try and sit near the front as they select people from the front row when its time for the next bit . They select you to go elsewhere and have a brief interview with two people and a video camera. They are really really friendly and not at all scary - the questions are simple and its probably best to ignore the camera and talk to them as if they were just another of the people you've been happily gossiping with in the other room ! The questions are not hard and the environment is not intimidating !
The hardest bit is the fact that the phone may never ring, and you will never recieve any information at all if you are not selected !

Just treat it as a fun activity, and if something good comes of it then all the better . 50 people is small for recent auditions, Manchester for example was 150 people per session with 3 sessions ! Huge !!

All that said - good luck and have a great time. The production staff are lovely :D

Well there wasn't at the one I went to. I hear that in the original auditions they used group games but now they are auditioning so many at once I don't think its possible ! ? Just a form and five minutes infront of a camera.

Sitting about waiting though is a great opportunity for a natter cos everyone is in the same boat and up for a gossip. You get to watch old shows while you're waiting too.

There used to be a group game which involved very little skill - I think it was just to test how well people responded to each other / played up etc.

I think pressure of numbers has meant they are just doing straight audition filmed interviews now.

Good luck with the audition - be yourself and I'm sure you'll be fine.
