Well, he'll still be in the "Showcase Showdown" (I think it's called that anyway), but it was Morris the Poet!

I think we need a special thread for this.

"Spotted - ex-DonD contestants not content with their 45 minutes of fame who have been seen on other TV quiz shows!" (and what they won or didn't win compared with their DonD experience)

Quite a lot of them! Desperate fame-seekers obviously.

Proves my theory that TV producers only ever pick the same kind of people. Mind you, only certain kinds of people apply, which is why all the same faces keep popping up again and again !!

How am I ever going to get on TV if all these people keep hogging all the application forms and auditions. Honestly. :-D

But people on the Price is Right are just randomly selected from the audience, are they not?

Indeed, they wouldn't "randomnly" choose contestants, I reckon they were either interviewed beforehand or told before the show who is on.

Despite my post above, I have no idea about how 'The Price is Right' selects contestants, so have just googled to have a quick look. UKgameshows.com states the following, which isn't very helpful :

"...contestants are plucked (seemingly) at random from the audience..."

I think therefore they must have some idea they are going to be picked, surely?

Morris posts on here doesn't he? Maybe he can enlighten us...

:-D

Here's a thought...have you ever wandered if the same people are picked for EVERY single game show...I mean no offence but it don't seem fair. The greedy git has already won £20,000 how much more does he want.

*Cherry...CHERRY!!! Caaaaaalm down dear!*

He wants the other £81,000 that he turned down on DonD!!

Well, he's the one who went out there and applied for all these things, so until we apply for everything he did, I don't think we can comment :-D

Beware - this is so much more than you ever needed to know about the Price Is Right contestants. We went to filming in May, they were filming two shows a day, and the first show we were on was aired two weeks later.

First of all - contestant selection. There is a mailing list out there somewhere full of the names of previous quiz show contestants. Our friend is on it (she has been on about six quiz shows) and she was sent an email. It announced that The Price Is Right was coming back, could she put together a big party of people and attend filming. She got together about 12 of us, the producers offered us a day to watch the filming, and off we all went to Manchester.

We got to Granada Studios, and then you are all herded into a huge, hot airless room - it was awful. You are then called into The Rovers Return (the Granada work pub, not the proper Rovers) in your party group. The groups are split up into twos or fours at the door, and each mini group has a minute, if that, with the producers firing questions at them. You are funnelled through, and then that is the last you know whether you are picked or not until you hear the voice saying "Blah McBlah - come on down!"

Although, if you keep an eye on the runners, the PAs, and the cameramen before the warm up man starts, you can see them pointing out the contestants beforehand.

If you get a chance to go, I would highly recommend it. It's a good day out.

(I can't believe I came out of lurkdom to talk about TPIR!)

I went to The Price is Right with Morris and other ex DOND contestants and was called to come on down during the second show.
We all had a brief chat with the producers before going into the studio, this is when you are selected.
They did ask me where we all knew each other from and I told them DOND. Did not seem to put them off.
The fact that we both got to come on done was really amazing, we must have TV faces.
The whole experience was a bit cattlemarket like but great fun.

So go on then. Tell us. When does your show air? Have we missed it? Go on. Give yourself a plug! :D
