Rumour from Dave Show 56, posted at Bother's Bar by tpenery, of a twist that will frankly ruin this show:

One contestant is chosen at random to face the other 100, each of whom are eliminated for a wrong answer thus earning the '1' £1,000; one wrong and they're out, and one of the surviving members of the 100 takes their place and only faces the remaining members!!!

The obvious result will be that every show will be the same - one person will come in with maybe six left and end up winning. Yawn. What could have been the next Winning Lines will end up as the next Millionaire Manor.

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Gill was the first player, but didn't win anything.

Khanny and Linda from April are also there.

Didn't remember Gill from DOND but guessed that was her when she came up at the start.

Heard there were a few DONDers on there - thought I spotted Linda, didn't see Khanny though. Do the same contestants come back next week or is there a new 100?

The absence of a "deal" option makes it a very cheap show for the BBC to run!

Yeah, pretty certain that was Beryl. Think I saw £29,999 Gary there, too.

It was alright, but very slow, and lots of it felt a bit pointless - seeing the money go up and down wasn't that exciting when you knew there was no chance of them getting any of it unless they got to the end.

Horrific. Truly, truly horrific.

If anyone wants to see how much better this format could be, www.talpa.tv will have a live stream of the Dutch version tomorrow at about 8:30pm UK time.

What was so bad about it, when they didn't even do the bit you mentioned before i.e. getting someone to face only the ones remaining so ensuring a winner each show?

Unbelievably slow; contestants spending ages deciding on the category and basically acting like In It To Win It contestants but worse; Dermot didn't convince me as host, he felt wooden somewhat and that's one thing he normally isn't; did I mention unbelievably slow?

That said, it's still a good format, and the bonus dodge is actually quite excellently executed.

The US is doing exactly that, apparently. Though they're also adding a bailout option if I remember rightly!

I guess they're not doing it here because their budget would be busted by someone blowing a question right after a productive early Double, you'd get £60k+ spread between about 30 people.
