I agree with the above comments. We've had lots of great characters and games anyway without the need to mess with the wings and have this sexes thing. It's a silly gimmick and is a case of endemol trying too hard.

I agree with the thing about the bankers offers as well. The bankers offers are OK as long as they're pitched too low and at an average level

Some of them have been too low. Rossano's offers and Jon's 9.5K forcing them to gamble but it's a refreshing change from the inflated offers in April which didn't work.

I watch DOND for good gameplay between the banker and the player. I like the simple idea of risk/reward and people winning decent money as well asd odds and the stastistical side of things. This is just silly and unnecessary and a distraction.

And with regards to filming my ideal prefrenence would have been for shows to be filmed a few weeks in advance rarther than months as the show would be more realistic and make it easier to gauge public opinion better.

Once again, there's no need for it. It's just a desparate, unnecessary attempt to gain viewers. You have to remember though, when these shows were filmed - at the end of April, the show was just recovering from a dodgy patch where almost everyone on here was saying how it had gone downhill.

The time when this battle of the sexes was planned was probably right during the time when the show was at its lowest point (end of March) and the producers were worried and wanted to think of something to correct it.

Unfortunately, they didn't realise that the show would naturally get better anyway... which means we've now got this gimmick as a result of the show's slump in March.

Yet another reason why shows shouldn't be shown so far in advance, because they don't have time to properly analyse the viewing figures, and they weren't to know that they'd start naturally getting better from May.

I love how you just can't resist but to speculate, second-guessing what the producers were thinking. I mean please

The way you've written that, anyone would think you are a producer on the show. Anyway... nothing wrong with speculation... it's part of discussion and that's what happens on a forum! It's a theory and I think it's quite a valid one... we're all entitled to our own opinions and have our own theories and that's my one. I respect the fact that you may disagree with me. Would you like to offer your own theory as to why they decided to do the battle of the sexes thing? I think it's interesting, as Noel didn't really say why they were doing it, apart from the banker wanting to know which is the luckier sex... and surely he could do that based on the information he's already got from the statistics that the past 2 years (almost) of the show has produced... and in any case, finding out which is the better sex based on nearly 2 years' worth of data is much more reliable than working it out based on a few weeks' worth.

I really dont see the point of replacing all the guys with women or doing this anyway...I mean couldn't they just get someone to calculate which sex was luckier by seeing how much each sex had won before last Sunday??

And yeah, some of my favourite contestants at the moment will have really short runs. I'm not really interested in the new females at the moment.

How are they going to make 4 male players last for 6 games?

There's 5 left on the current list, and I believe 5 "male" games remaining as it started on a Sunday.

If this week's replacements are all female though, there will be only one name appearing on the selection board on Friday!

I have to agree. Variety is what I like on DOND and is what prevents it getting stale. Variety, in terms of the people there at the moment, is not what we have... :?

I'm not minding all these females at all! ;)

I'm sure we'll have 22 men afterwards, then it'll be back to the mixture!

I think they will only play 12 women, as they will men.

There you go then - she'll be the show's second-longest runner!

I think it's a shame that the title of "second-longest runner" won't be because of being a popular player on the wings, but more because of this battle of the sexes - as popular as she may be, I doubt she'd normally have done so many shows if it wasn't for the battle of the sexes thing... :?

I make it her 33rd show by the earliest time she could play which is Sunday, which'll make her joint third with Karen, Sarah and Raj (though Sarah and Raj missed shows cus of illness). I imagine she'll play then, you never know though!
