4th February marks the 1st anniversay of the airing of Aileen's game – the original Black Widow herself – revealing many a high number during her time on the wings! She played after 22 shows, dealt at £8,000, after turning down £11,000, which was the highest offer in the game. Her proveout went well though, with a final proveout offer of just £60! Her box was opened to reveal £100 – as is the way with Black Widows / Terminators – she didn’t have a big number in her box, number 1, for her game!

There was no show on 5/2/06 due to it being a Sunday, so the next anniversary is... the 6th February, which marks the 1st anniversay of the airing of Glen's game – who played after 18 shows, dealing at £9,000. He had already turned down £17,000, and his proveout didn’t go well either – his final offer being £33,000. However, £3,000 was in his box, box number 21!

Also the highest ever rated More4 repeat up to that point by a huge margin, with 228,000. Was previously held by Vanessa with 163,000.

Wouldn't hold that title for long, though...

I loved Glen's system - going by the Formula 1 standings for the 2005 World Championship. I'd like to see someone do it for '06!

I do think he got it slightly wrong though - in 2005, the highest car number was 21, and there was no car 22, however he saved Box 4 till the end and it contained £75k (Takuma Sato who only scored 1 point drove car 4), so really he should have picked 4 before 22, and this would have assured him a TPW rather than a TBW. His deal did seem very over-cautious though, he still had £100k, £75k, £35k and £15k left at 8 box - I'd have expected something around £20k offered there, and he dealt £9k!

I loved that system too, the best ever. I may have to look on formula1.com and do the box order for 06, and post how the game goes for tomorrow.

This time a year ago, on 7th February 2006, it was DOND veteran John M’s turn to play – one of only a few players to do as many as 32 shows. He dealt at his final offer of £14,000, after turning down twice that (£28,000), but he did only have £1 in his box! John also gets a single page in the DOND book to himself, and also appears on the DOND DVD interactive game!

Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but at 5-box today, Paul was offered £28k, same as John a year ago. Paul's proveout offer at 2-box was £14k - same as John's in play offer a year ago!

Spooky, I wonder if the banker remembered that for today's show? (Admittedly Paul's offer was better in relation to the baord than John's, but still)!

Let's just hope he offers £84k on Friday then...

8th February marks a year since Little Linda’s game was aired – the game in which Noel dropped the phone! That clip made it on to Harry Hill’s TV Burp – where Harry Hill pretended to be the banker, and he said he had put butter on the phone! Linda played after a very respectable 28 shows, dealt at her highest offer of £16,000 – and only had £3k in her box, box 3! A nice outright player win, and a thrashing for the banker!

Feb/March 2006 rocked my socks.

9th February marks the one year anniversary of something rather special in DOND’s history – Brenda’s game! Brenda, who played after 23 shows, had the most powerful board ever at the 9-box stage, with £750 and all the reds from £10k upwards remaining!

She then took out £20k, was offered £57k and dealt (having previously been offered £31k). The proveout round resulted in a hypothetical offer of £84k. Her final 2 in proveout were £10k vs £50k, with the final offer being £21,000. She had £50,000 in her box, box 11.

Brenda had a really amazing board, yet she’s often forgotten by Noel!

I remember watching Brenda's game. I'd forgotten about it actually, but I think it was one of the first games I watched all the way through and I remember really enjoying it.

I also think it's worth pointing out that the hypo £84k was dead on the mean, and therefore unrealistic (yes, she had a guaranteed £10k but that's rubbish compared to £84k!). It's possible for the Feb 07 Banker, but the Feb 06 banker was generally really nasty!

I think Brenda should really have had a Hall Of Fame section in DD week last year, she never even got mentioned, but her game was more noteworthy than at least 4 or 5 of the people who made appearances!

Let's hope today's player can manage to get a board as strong as Brenda's! I wonder what tactics the banker would use nowadays to try and unsettle the player and make them either deal earlier or gamble to the end in the hope they'd go away with less money?
