The stairs to the right of the board, looked like they were spiralling downwards

Unlucky Alex, you really played that well, Noel said it spot on. We would really have loads of big winners if everyone played the game like you. Just that the game wasn't on your side today.

And Greeny, box 11 had its worst result ever today!

"Its".

Sorry, I just have two weeks of pointless bickering stored up inside me. ;)

I thought of Greeny as soon as I saw box 11 was on the table. Alex deserved a lot more, but that's how the game goes sometimes.

I was scared when I saw Alex and box 11, as my name is Alex, and people generally tend to associate me to 11, so to actually have Alex play with box 11 was kind of freaky.

And Wakey, I'm happy 11 has had a bad game, it means all boxes have had lowish wins (less than £6,000) now.

He deserved so much more than £5, especially after being on for so long.

Yes it's overdue, but (to correct Noel), statistically it's about an even money chance that we'll have to wait for more than 15 further games before it appears again.

Good stats Al!

That does annoy me the way Noel keeps saying statistically the £250k will be on the table soon. The boxes have no memory!

That's like saying if you roll a dice 100 times and never get a 6, you're statistically likely to roll a 6 the next time. Rubbish!

Ok, good stats, but isn't a 1 in 22 chance?

Al is working them out based on the 1 in 22 chance that there already is!

On each day there is a 1 in 22 chance that the contestant's box will contain £250,000.

What MisterAl is saying is that there is a 20.8% chance the £250,000 will be on the table within the next five games.... obviously as the number of games goes up, the percentage chance of the £250k being on the table will go up.

I haven't explained that very well but hopefully it makes sense.

So there's about a 6% chance we won't see it on the table again this year!

You've explained it pretty much perfectly. Thank you. (I should probably have included a bit of explanation in my original post, actually. But still.)
