Helllooo...

Here are some questions I've been pondering for a while. I don't know the answers but just wondered whether you guys do!

1) Who was the first contestant to bow to both of the "wings" before walking down the Walk of Wealth?
2) Which was the first episode of DOND where Noel referred to the wings as "East" and "West" - I seem to remember him not using those terms at the start. Or maybe he did?
3) I think that it's DOND tradition to walk around the table clockwise/anti-clockwise (sorry can't think which way!)...when was the last time this ritual was broken and the contestant walked the "wrong" way round the table?
4) When was the first episode when Noel coined the phrase "Power 5"?

1. The first contestant to bow/curtsey was Marie, I think.

2. He used "Left" and "Right" wings in some of the early shows, then somebody asked him to change it, possibly Jennifer.

Jennifer suggested that Noel change 'left wing' and 'right wing' as it sounded too political, so he changed it to east and west.

And again, I believe Jennifer's game was the first game where Noel mentioned the power 5 - well, actually, he called it the 'power 4'.

Does anyone know when 'Ask me the question' became a regular occurence? In those early shows it seems contestants have to answer when Noel says so...

Don't know that, but a much more recent innovation seems to be formally asking the question "Swap or No Swap?" It's a case of "no questions except two" on a lot of occasions now!

There doesn't seem to be any strict rule as to whether or not he says that, though...Rhona and Barbara just declined/accepted the swap without being asked. :? He's always said it for the opening swap since Naqiyah's game, though.

It's just interesting to see where the phrases and "traditions" came from! I often watch DOND and think things like that.

:) cheers guys!

So was there a time right at the start when the players walked whichever way they wanted around the table? When was it decided that you have to walk a certain way around the table?
