that DOND never deflates, if you know what I mean. I really would hate it if it got like Who Wants To Be A Millioanire or Weakest Link where people get sick of it.

It won't, will it?

To be honest, it probably will - as you said, it happened to WWTBAM and TWL, and I can see it happening even faster with DOND, seeing as it's on so often. People will probably lose interest after someone's won the £250k - that wouldn't be the case for me, or I suppose anyone on this forum, but lots of casual viewers I know say they only watch it to see if that will happen.

I think it's great that it's taking a break over August. Especially because of the two episodes per day thing during the World Cup.

I hope that it doesn't. I certainly won't stop watching it even if someone gets the £250,000. I do watch it for the game side of things, but also for the contestants and Noel, as each game is different.

Game shows nearly always have a limited lifespan, people get tired of any format over time and it will fall out of favour and eventually disappear - though the best ones are often revived some years later and brought to a new audience.

Millionaire and Weakest Link may have their best days long since behind them but they are still on the air after a number of years, if DOND lasts that long it will have done very well - especially considering it is on six times a week.

I doubt it ever will, look at Countdown, how long has that been going, and when Richard died everyone thought that would be the end of it, but it's still going strong.

I am a game show addict anyway, and watch them all, and will never tire of them. DOND has taken over as number 1 and I still love Millionaire and weakest link.

I often think about this. WWTBAM? was one of my favourite shows, but I just don't find it interesting or exciting anymore, mainly for the reasons I love DOND? - there's no/little atmosphere, the contestents are dull, Tarrant isn't as enthusiastic as he once was, the format of the show is boring and there isn't that heightened suspense there once was when players went for the million pound question as you already know the outcome.

The only way I can possibly see DOND? losing viewers/supporters is if "spoilers" get out of control. People won't make the effort to watch the show if they know there won't be anyone who wins the 250k or if someone only wins 1p.

It's always going to be exciting because of the nature of the show and it's format. They mix things up occassionally with the special shows they did e.g. the Eurovision show, the Easter show etc... The audience will always be involved and we get just enough of the contestents before they are moved on. They are there long enough to create a kind of storyline and they're replaced by others. The drama and the suspense that the show creates is unlike any other prize-winning show - I don't think DOND? will be knocked off its perch anytime in the near future.

That won't happen on here if Kes, Bushy and myself have anything to do with it! :-D :-D :-D

I find DoND as gripping and entertaining as I did when I first started watching it and I hope that won't change!

:D

Agreed. When I saw the first millionaire on WWTBAM I just started watching less.

Deal Or No Deal is a bit different because each person does have a different strategy and personality towards the offers which makes it more interesting to watch even when there will be a first ever £250k winner

The only thing I'm worried about is that we're not getting to know the contestants as much before they play at the moment. Simone was great in the chair yesterday, but I can't say I'd noticed her that much beforehand, or was particularly looking out for her game. Compare that to her predecessor in her space, Morris. By the time he played we all felt as though we knew a bit about him. He was a constant source of entertainment, and I for one really looked forward to his game.

Of the current bunch, only Buzz, Colin and maybe Stevie have really stood out. Also all the men seem to be standing on the East wing, and all the women on the West, which doesn't seem quite right.

My other slight grievance is that the contestants on the wings are holding hands every game, and increasingly early in the game. I know its tense all the way through, but I think this gesture should be reserved for the really big moments. I know I might be in a minority of one on this point, but when people are holding hands before the second break (as I think they were yesterday) it gets a bit ridiculous. The gesture doesn't seem as special any more.

I won't be switching off just yet, but I have to say the gloss has slightly been taken off the show recently. I just hope it comes back.

Rant over.

i completely agree...i really hope it doesn't take the same route as twl and wwtbam, because i find both of them bland as anything. hopefully this august break will mean by september the format is fresh again. but wwtbam has series breaks too... :?
