HEAT 2 - MARCH 2009

5 days to place your vote.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

982 - Mavis 11/03 - £26,000
A strong game for Mavis where by 8-box she was left with 6 reds, two of which were £75k & £250k, and just 2 blues. At 5-box the £250k still remained along with a back-up of 3 reds, however, the Banker brought out his ‘Old Faithful’ of £26,000 and it worked. Mavis decided to deal £26,000 and it turned out to be the right decision, and an OPW. Mavis had just £5,000 in her box.

983 - Alice 12/03 - £250,000
Finally after over two years since Laura won the jackpot back in January 2007, Alice, managed to become only the 2nd person to do so. However, it wasn’t a straight-forward win. Alice had previously dealt her 4th offer of £17,500, but with both the 1p & £250,000 still remaining at 2-box the Banker offered Alice the biggest Banker’s Gamble to date, which she took. Alice decided against swapping her box and after a tense few moments Noel lifted the lid on box 8 and the studio was soon covered in confetti as Alice became only the 2nd £250,000 winner.

984 - Wayne 13/03 - £21,500
A strong game for Wayne meant his offers kept rising and at 8-box was offered £35,000, but with a strong board Wayne no dealt £35k. A bit of damage in the next round though results in the Banker dropping the offer to £21,500, which Wayne subsequently deals. But just like yesterday’s game with Alice the £250,000 remained until the end of the game where Wayne would have been offered £90,000. The £250,000 had actually arrived at the table again, but after a hypothetical swap Wayne would have swapped it for £500.

985 - Sarah 15/03 - £10,000
The game was going well for Sarah with the offers slowly rising up to £20,000 at one point. However, a disastrous 5th round resulted in the £20,000 offer being slashed to £5,000. Sarah played on until 2-box where she was offered £10,000, which she subsequently dealt. But she actually had the £35,000 in her box.

986 - Colin 16/03 - 1p
Despite losing the £250,000 in the first round Colin’s game still remained strong, and at 8-box with just 2 blues vs. 6 reds, ranging from £3,000 - £100,000, Colin was offered £20,000 for the second time. Colin no dealt the offer and from that point onwards the game just crashed and Colin eventually went on to become the 19th member of the 1p club.

987 - Ian 17/03 - £4,999
A game that never really got anyway for Ian as he was constantly offered £4,999. Ian dealt his 4th offer of £4,999. His box contained £20,000.

988 - Cheri 18/03 - £10
At 8-box with 4 blues and 4 reds, ranging from £15,000 - £75,000, the board was stable and Cheri decided to no deal the £9,000 offer. However, the next round went on to destroy the game as Cheri managed to find 3 out of the 4 remaining reds and was left with just £20,000 vs. 4 blues at 5-box. Cheri went on to win just £10 from her box.

989 - Steve 19/03 - £20,000
At 5-box, with the £250,000 still in play, Steve was offered £20,000, which he dealt. But at the end of his game Steve was left with £15,000 & £250,000 still left, The Banker, said he would have offered Steve £110,000 at that point. Steve actually had £250,000 on the table, but after a hypothetical swap Steve would have swapped it for £15,000.

990 - Maureen 20/03 - £5,000
A game that started off fairly well for Maureen soon turned into disaster as she managed to find 6 reds in a row, 4 of which were the remaining of the Power 5. Maureen decided to deal at 2-box for £5,000 with the remaining 2 boxes containing £750 & £20,000. Maureen’s box contained £750.

Has to be Alice and her £250,000 win for me here. Even though I knew the result it was still great to see someone finally become the 2nd £250k winner. Even if it was in an unconventional way through the use of the Banker’s Gamble.

Not Alice, too obvious and a deux ex machina of remarkable proportions, not to mention a dreadful guilt trip in round 5.

Not Wayne, ludicrous proveout offer and (I presume, haven't seen it) a guilt trip to match.

Erm, Mavis I suppose.

Alice without a shadow of a doubt. Unexpected, tense and just brilliant.

Wayne and Mavis second and third.

Mavis for me, as it was just the show we needed to pick ourselves up after Dermot's and George's blue wins.

Wayne's and Colin's were also really good too (but a shame Colin didn't win more). And of course Alice's was memorable but for different reasons!
