Wow, erm...

First of all, Gloria is absolutely awesome. What a great player, I'm proud to have her in my sig and I hope that her replacement is equally as cool and keeps the W5 position alive.

Noel was nuts today, though...this game was absolutely insane, with the ladder, and the ripping up of the teabag, etc! He'll be carried off in a straightjacket at this rate.

But wow, what a depressing game. She had a really bad board throughout, and somehow managed to recover to a four blues and £35k board (well, 'recover' is used loosely here), only to take out the £35k. Really really sad viewing, especially as this game was recorded in the run up to Christmas. Pity about the result, but hope you had a great time there, Gloria, and all the best for the future!

...youuuuuch.

Not sure what the Banker was doing making a ridiculously high second offer (instant Deal for me. £8,800 on a 14-box £50k board??) and then not even trying to buy the box except for the fifth offer, the first about-right offer he's made in a fair while.

Aaaaaaagh.

I was expecting a much lower offer than £4,000 at 5 box and given how her luck had gone I was sort of hoping she would deal then, but at least she was courageous. How many times did the banker wish her good luck
in his message to her at the start? :?

Gloria said that she didn't want anyone to wish her 'Good Luck'.

She won £5.

Hmmm

Is it me or was there a rather odd junction in that prog :?

Before the second break Gloria chose Brian with box 9, then after the break she opens box 3 Mary?!? No mention of a change of mind or anything? Very, very odd indeed!

Poor Gloria thos, a truly awful game... what is it about February eh!

I noticed the change of box as well Rob.. and then after she no dealt after opening Mary's box (which was £50,000) she then chose Brian and it was blue, ok the highest blue but still blue!

After all her tallk of superstition I thought that if she had changed her mind they would have mentioned that rather than all Noel's waffle about hats, ladders and ripping up of lucky teabags!! Well I'd have preferred that anyway!

Still gutted about this game.. Poor Gloria :(

OMG she was issuing so many instructions to everyone it was like being in bloody boot camp!

Personally I thought she shoudl have gone at £4k - it was madness to play on.

was odd when noel said at the end "i have a feeling the box has got £5" and gloria goes "No no no" and it DID have £5.
coincidence?

Nah, Noel always says that when it's an unlucky game... whatever the lowest amount is, he always says "ah well, the way your luck has gone I think this is the blah de blah *insert lowest amount here*"

It's like when after they have dealt and the next box is a low blue he says "It would've been the perfect start!!" (actually any low amount.. doesn't even have to be blue!!)

5 OBWs in a row, the players can't do right for doing wrong these days :(

I am now certain that these high early offers are designed to stop a player cutting their losses in a bad game - I'm sure many people will have dealt the £4k with £35k/4 blues if they hadn't been offered £9k for the first two offers. You think "How can I take £4k when I've refused £9K" - it resigns you to a TBW at best! It was a good get-out offer though, and she chose not to take it.

On a year's anniversary since the most powerful board ever, we get more or less the worst one ever - £35k and 7 blues! Given how the game turned out, it's a "shame" that she didn't hit the £35k in one of the first 2 boxes of the 5th round for the first all-blue squashdown (of course I would have preferred her to have won a good sum, but if you're going to have a disaster, do it in style :) ).

This may sound nasty, but I was glad it went pear shaped.

OK i don't mind systems etc, but she was OTT with everything being superstitious, and revealing the big numbers early just proved once again DOND is a game of luck. It's either your day or it isn't.

And the numbers she had, didn't she say she was opening them backwards ? Hmmm should of went the normal way.

Certainly didn't work out for her. Personally I'd have gone at the second offer, but contestants aren't concentrating enough at the first two offers, and Gloria among others has been trapped in loss-chasing mode...

This game's being repeated on C4 at the moment if anyone missed it/is feeling a bit suicidal and wants to be pushed over the edge.
