Gutted, Karen was so lovely. She had such a great attitude to the game, I wanted to see her at least get a nice sum for Christmas but sadly not :(

I hate £10!!

I wouldn't have taken the £14,500, with the quarter-million still there and a good safety net, but I would have taken the £9,000 - as I wouldn't have wanted to do an all or nothing gamble if the tenner had remained with the inevitable drop in the offer. With £20k being the top prize available at the time, it wasn't as though she'd have missed out on anything life-changing!

But fair play to her for going for it, that was spectacular bad luck.

And she looked absolutely beautiful as well!

Having just watched all six games I missed this week back to back (it made Double Deal week look tame in comparison, I can tell you...), I was hoping for a happy ending for my nearly 4 hours worth of viewing but, alas, I was left both square-eyed and unhappy for Karen.

A tenner isn't much use at Christmas - can't even buy a turkey for that these days... :?

Gutted for Karen, she seemed a really nice lady. I think she made the right decisions given the circumstances of the board but the luck just didn't go her way. Unlucky Karen.

Oh Karen  Why oh why did you pick Joey? I was screaming at my TV not to pick the baby-faced assassin, but you didn't listen to me :?

But anyway, congratulations Karen on playing a very brave game and I'm sorry you didn't win more. You certainly brightened up my day today and I shall miss not seeing you anymore. James is a very lucky guy ;)

Happy Christmas :D

I was saying that as well, I just felt that she might have the 250k again.

Ditto on all of that. I wished Karen hadn't pick Joey either. Karen, we will all miss you.

Hold on! Who holds the record? I thought it was Michaela?

Paula R, with five. Michaela had it four times, as did Lyndsey (1), Donna (2), Bianca, David J, Julie, Dave W and probably some others I've forgotten.

Michaela had it four times in a row. The record is held by Paula R, who had £250,000 five times.

Sorry that you only won £10 Karen, but you played a really good game and took it well.

Hi Karen,

It's so great to hear that the experience of DOND has made up for the low amount you won - have a great Christmas and a great 2007!

Good to know that you haven't been torn apart by the way the game went, as quite a few people have...

Would have been a spectacular train wreck...

Alfie £5,000.00
Brian £100,000.00
Conor £20,000.00
Craig £50,000.00
Danny £15,000.00
Don £35,000.00
Elton £50.00
Frank £1,000.00
Jennifer £75,000.00
Jenny £0.01
Joey £250,000.00
Laura £750.00
Lucy £0.50
Mariette £5.00
Neil £3,000.00
Nicola £500.00
Paul £10,000.00
Rachel £1.00
Thanh £100.00
Wendy £250.00
Wrighty £0.10

Yes, she'd have hit six reds in a row at the start including three of the Power 5, then taken out the other two from the Power 5 in the third round to leave a third-round board of:

10p, 50p, £1, £5, £10, £100, £250, £500, £750, £3,000, £10,000

Seriously.

Presuming she'd have kept Alfie until near the end, she'd have had disasterous bad luck had she stuck to the system...she'd have had an all-red opening round, and by the end of round 2 she'd have taken out every single red over £10,000 except £250,000, with the £50 the only blue to go.

Then the next two boxes would have been 1p and £250k! She'd have had this board:

10p
50p
£1
£5
£10
£100
£250
£500
£750

£3,000
£5,000
£10,000

Then the £750 would have gone. Would that have been the worst round 3 board ever?
I gotta say, Karen, thank god you changed your system!
