Interesting hypothetical offer by the banker - quite a contrast to Lucy's £105k last week!

Mmm, I thought the Banker was being quite kind to her, there - he'd probably have made it a lot higher if she hadn't been so obviously distraught about it all.

Haven't we seen examples of where the banker has been mean and has actually enjoyed rubbing it in?

Reading back over my previous comments in this thread, I forgot to say well done to Ingerlise. Well done Ingerlise on your £15k, I hope you enjoy it. ;)

Hardly well done achieving the joint worst deal ever is it?

No, but she did well to walk away with £15k, which is a lot of money and more than lots of people end up with...

I still think she would have been less upset it she ended up risking the 15k and won 1p, but she was more upset blowing the £250,000 due to that being enough to actually buy the villa she wanted. If you want a high priced target (Villa) you know that it's unlikely for that to be infront of you. But when you deal and find out it was, you would be more upset than you would winning 1p.

I agree that you'd be more upset in the middle of the game, yes. You've spent a couple of weeks where the game is your entire world, seen other people do really well and probably built up your own expectations. When you're in the middle of an extremely pressured situation like that, having to sit there and see what you could have won must be a horrible experience, especially with Noel going on at you.

But once Ingerlise was back home, out of the environment of the game, and her cheque for £15,000 came through, I doubt she was too distraught. £250k, £65k or whatever else was just fantasy money that she never actually had. Extremely disappointing at the time, yes, but I'm sure she was eventually able to appreciate the money that she did have and be happy with that - much more so than if she'd gone home and had nothing more than a cheque for a quid.

But you could tell how the proveout offers meant something to her - as soon as Noel said 30 thousand, she was in tears. There was obviously something that she could have done with 30k that meant a lot to her. And obviously 65k and 250k was doubling and tripling and quadrupling the pain.

Yes, and I'm sure there were things she could do with £15k that meant a lot to her as well, or she wouldn't have taken it. If she'd gone on and won £1, she could have done nothing.

But she wouldn't have been more upset if she won £1!

Do you know that for sure? I don't think she would. For one thing, I think Ingerlise was going to get pretty darn emotional whatever the outcome of the game - she was crying as soon as the £15k offer was given. And if she had ended up with nothing, I think she'd have been just as upset as she actually was, but without the consolation of £15k to cheer her up afterwards.
