Well, that was just so unfortunate to go from an all-blue start to an all-blue finish. :(

At least she wasn't the second Laura to win 1p, not that that's much consolation after a game like that. :(

Laura says she had £16,000 in her head and was offered it twice.

She worries that she will let her family down, because she knows she will be OK.

She wanted to do something for them, and she could have done.

No words of Noel's will make her feel better. Noel is sorry.

What a game,

Hope I did it justice.

Good start. But then the game started to plummet. Stingy banker (as usual ) A very low winning. Laura takes home 10p. (Also known as the second lowest value on the gameboard)

What a excellent commentary today! Basically flawless (save for a probability misnomer! ;) ) :smt023

Pity the same couldn't be said for the luck in that game, a particularly painful crash for me to watch, having (as I've probably mentioned too much in this thread already) WORKED with Laura as a sales assistant over weekends about 6 years ago while she studied Performing Arts at my local Uni! She was always such a positive spirit at work and made the hours fly by with her fun (and sometimes wacky!) sense of humour

I'm sure she will bounce back from this minor setback soon enough. Must get back in contact with her, it's been too long! :D

Well...there was only really one person carrying the 'BOO RUBBISH F*****G OFFER!!!! :smt019 :smt019 ' baton today. The others - amid poor offers, you surprised me with your resolve and calmness there. We're really getting somewhere.

Jake - but like I said with ACB, why do you think what you think of the offer? Why is it poor, why don't you like it, and so on? You're clearly an intelligent guy, and I for one would love to hear your take on things, rather than just 'ohh that offer's RUBBISH I HATE the Banker!!!!'. :smt023

Shame about how this game went, really. After the first few rounds I was expecting a good outcome, but the disintegration was rather horrible. £500 with those 5 boxes left was abysmal; I mean, the Banker could treat the player with some respect at that point, but of course, that's not his duty. What is, is to contribute to or make entertaining television, and I think he probably did that.

It was looking great to start with! Maybe if the Banker did go to £20,000 at the third offer it would have been a spanking, but he was as tight as usual, luckily for him, it payed of.... rather spectacularly.

Rosie was, who played 3 days after Paddy, and recovered to one of the most satisfying £20K wins ever!

Not much Laura could do about that. It would have taken a very, very cautious player to have dealt at 11-box on a board that strong (and I'd imagine had she done so, most people on here would have said she had been very lucky to have had a crash like she did).

Okay, jakecarroll84 you are being absolutely ridiculous.

According to this post from Skyline:

Skyline wrote:

Rubbish Offer! :smt019 :smt011 I'd want £16k-17k

Don't start. :smt018

You originally wanted £16k-17k for the opening offer. But now your recentest edit of your post now reads:

jakecarroll84 wrote:
Rubbish Offer! :smt019 :smt011 I'd want £18k-£22k

You do understand the highest opening offer on a standard board is £20,000, and in this era of low offers we're never going to see a £20,000 opening offer?

Anyway, it must be noted for record's sake that a second- or third-offer deal today would have resulted in a spanking. I'd also like to point out that the banker's offers absolutely do not change the odds of the big money going; she was 37.5% likely to take out the £250k in her fifth round regardless of her offer being £5,000 or £20,000. Unfortunate crash for a board that looked like she was almost guaranteed to win big money, but the boxes are indeed unfriendly when it comes to statistics.

Also, while a stick after her third round is unfair, it's not the banker's job, duty, or obligation to be fair. In fact, sticks are the ultimate mind game, in my opinion.

For the people who whine about player caution, bear in mind she opened her box today. That's something, right?

The only way we would EVER see £20k opening offers is someone who wants to make the most of the show and due to how contestants are selected, we may never see that happen for some time. :smt009

Also, I would always value all-blue openings to at least £15k except if the bottom 5 are taken out (which will probably never happen as the odds are 1 in 26,334).

Actually, maybe £26,334 :P

Once she got past 14-box there was only one justifiable course of action to take, and it turned out to be the wrong one. Go figure.
