Absolutely unbelievable game in every respect! :D  Privileged to have witnessed this game live in March, and it's 2 1/2 hours of recording that I'll remember for a VERY long time!

Undoubtedly, I haven't felt more emotional in a TV studio, and to lock in all the tension in an extended final part of 10 boxes kept the atmosphere thrilling and pulsating. This is a mindblowing coincidence - the question is whether the Banker, without doubt taking huge liberties with the poor offers, was low-balling to see if the narrative would play out or if he would get lucky (both similarly dramatic endings), or simply pushing his luck beyonds the realms of sensibility on the basis that a cluster of players before Marlene had taken cautious Deals AND THEN the games had crashed.

Whatever, the 5-box edit doesn't really reflect that she DID consider the £37k for a decent period, but ultimately the board was just too strong for her to turn her back on. This is probably up there with the biggest banker misjudgements of all time, although the offer made sense considering how long the cautious era had run before it (I didn't have the full picture on this at the time). Will the Banker learn his lesson? I had no idea now! :D

Also, will the wingers learn their lessons? And be a bit bolder? We shall see! :smt023

Excellent job Marlene for having the GUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt023 :smt023 :smt023

WOW, WOW, WOW, sdgthju :smt119 ................................

I'm very sad that I wasn't able to comment live on this game, as it was certainly the most exciting of the year. :D Marlene finally gave the Banker his proper punishment for these horrible offers. The final decision, like Roy's, was completely arguable either way, and there's no way I'm going to begrudge THE 2ND BIGGEST DEAL OF ALL TIME. :smt023

Only way she would have won it is if she had the dream finish.

Or if the offer was not £118,000 as she won it on the app....

Was out for the day but got back home in time for 8-box and having seen hints online that it was a good game (but having no idea why), I caught the end of the game.

Shades of Bunney's game with the coincidence of an online game played beforehand. Have to echo the sentiments that when you win a six-figure sum, it's more than slightly irrelevant what's in the box.

At least I don't use about 30 exclamation marks when I post. :P

Oh and this is the SECOND HIGHEST offer that has been dealt! :D

This was the first game I watched "live" being back in the country...and what a game it was too!

Myself...probably the jackpot. But still, 118 grand...

It may be easy for you to no deal any offer on any board but you do not represent the majority.

Ah, but who cares for representing the majority on this forum? :smt023 :D

What a game, it seems! I've just read through it. Not really a brave decision to go on at £37,000, which was utterly pathetic by all standards, precedents and averages throughout this show's entire existence. At £118,000, I couldn't blame her for dealing; I'd have been gone at that same point.

Very good game. :D

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Certainly not a bad game to see live! :D When I come out of the studio from a game such as this, it's amazing how powerful the emotions are - you just feel so happy that someone has changed their life forever through a game of opening boxes. It's quite a humbling thought really!

This was the perfect ending to this pilgrim stint - it may have been chucking it down outside, but the true sunshine and warmth was in the studio that day; a lovely sweet lady from Cardiff and her marmalade to start, bubbly Marlene and her deal app, and JLS's grand finish to round off the day (sadly I'd booked a train back before that game, but I didn't really mind! ;) )

Whilst it's true I could've seen 2 Quarter-Millionaires live if both Tony (£72k) and Marlene (£118k) had no-dealt, no quibbles from me whatsoever as they're both deal I'd have taken :smt023 (Of course, with all the FMQM talk about the former, I'm quite glad he wasn't persuading into taking a huge risk against his true inclination!)

An absolute beauty of a game and one of the easiest boards to play since Suzanne's
Interesting echos of both Bunney and Suzanne's game - we've now had players 'rehearse' their game on the interactive DVD, the board game and a phone app, and all three have found those dry runs surprisingly similar to the real thing. Maybe future players should take note :-D

Decision arguable either way at 2 box though I have to say the drop from £118k to £35k is pretty steep , probably not one i would have wanted to take. Certainly no criticism of Marlene from me.

Fascinating 2-box in that there were two questions to answer:

1) Is £250k twice as useful as £118k (to most sane people, the answer is YES)
2) Is £35k enough fallback to go for £250k? (far trickier question, to me personally no; £118k gets you a house, £35k doesn't... BUT on the other hand, very few players win as much as £35k in the scheme of things.

This game, as I've said on Twitter, really highlighted to me the gap between £35k and £50k; I honestly thought it would have to be pretty close to the average on an all-power-5 finish for me to deal. But it's so real in the studio, and I went from, "I don't know what I would do here!" to doubts creeping in that £35k, whilst a very decent sum of money, just isn't as life-changing as perhaps it once was. With £50k as back-up, I might well have taken an £83k (or greater) risk. But that's the first time the £35k has "shrunk" as a value for me...

Nevermind a dream finish, it was a dream choice of boxes. I wouldn't disagree with any of the comments here. She really couldn't do anything wrong and the boxes just fell right for her. We're used to seeing many 8box boards with all the powerful reds removed but rarely the reverse.

I was a tiny bit surprised she dealt at 2 box and why did she have to say "Noel, deal" it was just awkward. Her fall back was almost identical to the previous offer of £37k. And, unbelievably it was still an OBW! :ponder:

Well who would've thought it? I go away for months and months and I see that I missed out watching this game? :(

probably the best game I've seen for a very long time, regardless of the ending.
