The Banker gets to look inside the box...

I think we all know that the Banker is going to play his usual mind games and say it's in there and then change his mind at the last minute...

I don't think this has happened before in a regular game. It happened once in a themed week, but I can't recall it happening in a regular game before.

This is intriguing!

Noel says this is the first time a player has let this happen. I know the Banker let this happen in exchange for bonus offers once, but forget if that was a special game.

Jo is basically accusing the Banker of goading him into a blue win now. Of course, the interesting dynamic is that Matt was on the wings for a theme week.

Banker says £35,000 is in 19. Truth or dare?

I'd be sticking with the box on the table. I can't trust the Banker!

I'm so glad I declared at 5-box I'd keep the £11,500 on this finish.

Noel runs through the question, with the wording inversion.

I'd like this to be worded as "keep the Deal, or Undeal?"

Hand back the money? NO DEAL

Matt wins £11,500

Wasn't a similar opportunity once offered to the player? Not as part of a banker's gamble, but I thought a player was once offered the chance of some extra money if they allowed the banker to look in their box or something.

Noel does the swap question. Would Matt have trusted the Banker? Yes, "swap", reason? "To put the pressure back on the Banker."

Don't ask.

Box 19 is bought to the table, and after he recaps the convoluted route to this twist, Noel opens it to reveal that it contains... £500!

Well, that was an intriguing final twist. Fascinating stuff to watch. :smt023

That's what I was thinking. Plus given Noel's memory, if he says it's never happened before, it probably means it has.

Pedantically an OBW, but the right decision!

"Imagine if you'd handed back £11,500 and fallen into the trap..." "Naughty man." Noel says that's kind.

Box 8 is opened by Rohina and £35,000 is revealed.

Noel says Matt played a really great game, and that although there was more, he won the mind games at the end.

Technically, that's a Banker win but given he actually got the mind games right, it doesn't seem like it should be.

Now that was really interesting. I just never believe the banker in any of these situations!!

(I'm also surprised the banker didn't ring back after the box reveal)!

I seem to remember it was one of the Christmas shows. If not, definitely a themed show. Cannot remember which year though.

That has to be a weirdest game so far this year. I think the worst part about it for me personally is that another cautious Deal was vindicated when it shouldn't have, as he probably wouldn't have swapped if it hadn't been for that crap at the end. :smt011

Was the show in question where the player let the banker see in a box voluntarily Liam in Clown Week 2009? (And IIRC the banker told the truth in that situation - that the £250k was in the box Liam thought it was and allowed him to look in)
