Yes, well I did say just about worth going for.

Anyhow... it's the biggest win of the year so far anyway. Good that Noel mentioned if he would have swapped the box or not.

If he had kept the £35,000 at the end, who knows what he would have done.

Well done for realising the first. Amazing game! Well done Roy, and Mark. Grow up.

He would've been offered £110,000 and he would've dealt. 8)

Is that all the non-£250k reds dealt for then?

£100,000 is still a great win though...

How many offers of £100,000 has there been?

Plus it's been months since we had a £100,000 winner.

Poor guy had so many problems with his hearing aid, it just kept going on and off which wasn't shown

A great game which I had the pleasure of watching in person

I said to the person next to me "If he had had £35,000 or above he may just have taken the risk and gone for it"

You would not believe the tension in the studio and yes I was one of those people screaming COME ON ROY

Got to shake Roy's hand before heading in for the 2nd recording

Enjoy the money, Roy, and thanks for a good game

Aw, so close! :( Don't begrudge Roy the money at all; £100,000 is a great result in anyone's books. :D :-D But only slightly gutted that he didn't take the final step.

I had such a good feeling throughout the whole game, the best show I have seen in months, I just wish he had the courage to go on to be the first male quarter millionaire, I had a feeling about 4.15pm properly that it was going to be a massive win. Well done Roy, enjoy the money.

I've just read them. Pure comedy

I have said on twitter we probably won't see a male person winning £250,000 as there are too many factors. That said, I wouldn't blame Roy taking six figures today.

When The Banker tweeted to watch it today I knew it was nothing ground breaking as there wasn't a YouTube clip to go with it.

Just as well I have him on ignore, silence is bliss :P

Had a feeling he would be vocal, and he probably hasn't disappointed as usual

I for one was delighted for Roy, and was glad to shake his hand and say well done to him before he left the premises :)

This more than doubled the previous HD win record. But could it be more than doubled again?

Excellent game. :D :D Roy definitely was very brave as most people would have chickened out at 8 or 5 box. There is no way I'm begrudging his final decision as it was very arguable either way and it was very sensible of him to deal it. I just hope this game encourages others to go to 2 box with the £250,000 in play as well.

Safe to say that Roy's going into the Hall of Fame with this result. And I'd say that it's well-deserved too :smt023.

For once, I completely agree with you, Hawker5ive. Not only has he produced the biggest win since Nong, but he is also the first person to Deal a six figure amount since May 2007. Sure he could have been the FMQM, but he is one of the few people to have the courage to make full use it's presence and win a sum of money that is life-changing in anyone's books. Anyone who considers his Deal to be "cautious" needs a huge reality check, as he would be risking £80,000 on a coin-flip if he went for it.

Over 4 hours later and I'm still buzzing over this game :D

Fantastic, just what we needed after the past few low tariff games. I can't even begin to imagine what the atmosphere on here would've been like if he won the jackpot, though... And we probably won't see another power 5 win for a long time now, unless Roy's aggressive style towards the game influences future contestants. Which I doubt. :(

Just watched that on 4OD - first game on a weekday I've watched this year without knowing the result already, and I'm still shaking.

And I reckon the hindsight brigade would have been over the moon had it been an £100k box win. :)

WOW

Managed to stay away from any internet from 4pm today until I got home from work (although I did sneak a peek at 4.50pm and saw the 2-box board).

Did think for a while that the first might be the first player to swap away the QM at 2-box in live play but thankfully was wrong about that.

£90k-£100k is the right offer for that board - given we've seen it both dealt and no dealt in the past and frankly, if you've won £100k, any disappointment about not winning £250k isn't going to last that long.
