Why do some contestants feel the need to inform the audience/viewers about their dire financial circumstances? DOND is a game show not a charity. Perhaps they're encouraged to show their desperation at the auditions in order to get on the show?

Round 6 - proveout

Toni wonders why she didn't listen to herself, and she says she believes there's £75k in her box.

15 - Claire - 1p

6 - Daniela - £10,000

Toni starts crying.

16 - Aqsa - £250

Banker time with £75,000 and £250,000 remaining...

Toni gets herself into a terrible state and doesn't stop crying, saying that she knew she had a big one in her box. The banker can be heard laughing wildly down the phone!

Banker's offer would've been:

£158,000

And that bears out my theory about the so-called independent ajudicator/producers allocating the higher-value boxes to the contestants they know are highly likely to deal early due to financial needs.

OH DEAR... OH DEAR... OH DEAR

Should have been a LOT more brave.

The £26,000 has worked YET AGAIN!

That 8 box offer with just TWO blues and 6 reds... 100% EASY no deal.

If it was her playing yesterday or the day before then she probably would have blown the chances of what she had in the box. (the £35,000 and £75,000)

She only has herself to blame (and possibly the mother) for not going all the way.

Should have just forget what she needed the money for and just play the game.

ONE OF THE WORST GAMES OF ALL TIME.......

Noel says Toni fits the profile of a £250k winner.

Toni has £75,000 in her box 18.

No you are wrong! They don't allocate the boxes. That is a random choice. However there is nothing random about which contestant is chosen on any one day. That is down to the choice of the producers!

Didn't expect Toni to play today; I thought she'd be there at least another week!

Terrible outcome though; a cautious, but understandable deal given her apparant circumstances.

Oh no, that crying at the end was reminding me of Donna's game, infact it was WORSE than that. I mean stop crying FFS, you got £26,000!! Most people would love to have money like that! :x

Having the £75k in her box is no consolation whatsoever.

I know where I'd pin a great deal of the blame, though - on Noel for playing around with the offers for the umpteenth time, and on the mother for saying "think about winning 1p"...

:x :x :x :x

Neither helped in any way, shape or form - especially in a game that was so heavily personalised.

And so this sticky period continues once again... :( :( :(

The worst thing about today's game wasn't the fact that she dealt early, it was the fact that she cried so much at winning £26,000. There have been plenty of contestants who have needed the money (for whatever reasons) and they've won significantly less than £26k.

I don't think Toni appreciated how lucky she was to have luck on her side to enable her to win as much as £26,000.

Well, I think Geoff's was worse... albeit not by much.

But it wouldn't surprise me if the production team secretly love games like this - after all, it means they don't have to worry about going over-budget...

£158,000? That was 97% of the average. They really know how to add salt to the wound.

Wasn't a nice game to watch, I actually think dealing was a good thing for her though, because the crying and outcome would have been a lot worse had she won the penny, or the £250, knowing her financial circumstances where she could barely afford food.. :unsure

Actually that's what I meant to suggest too, I realise that they choose the boxes randomly but the amount they take to the table is (at least to some degree) controlled by the order that the 3 contestants selected for each day's recording session are chosen to play in.

The producers like to make us think that this is also done randomly but of course it isn't. If it was then why not allow us to see the process at the start of each show? It would only take a couple of minutes after all.
