Box 22 with Will contains the 10p

Noel says he won't forget Mark.

£250 is always a nice bit of cash... much better than 10p at least.

He took a gamble, it didn't work, but oh well, it was a great game.

Oh dear. Still, he gave it his best shot, and should be recognized for that. Just a shame he crashed like that.

At least that was actually how he meant to play it.

£16k?! What a crap offer that was! :smt019 I didn't even need to look at the mean or the FD to know how rubbish that was.
I'd have definitely gone with £23k.

Ah dammit. What a shame. I really liked Mark and I was really willing him to have a good game. He had a cracking sense of humour, sarcastic and dry much like myself so I really related. He even looks a little bit like me.

A brave call at 5-box there, but its a shame we never learnt what his target was. He made a promise to go to the end if his target wasn't met and he did just that, which is commendable when such tempting offers are made. A great character, and one of my favourite games of 2011 because of it.

Did anyone watch the monumentally dull "red or black" last night. I could have sworn I saw Mark - today's contestant in a sideways shot as one of the losers on Black in the Alnwick Castle round. The person I glimpsed had Mark's Armani branded glasses with the white sidebars and an exotic tattoo on the wrist and his shaven head

I have to agree with the banker, Mark was a star with his comments from the first killer line to the end. A really good bloke shame he didn't get a better rub of the boxes.

Didn't notice him. And Red Or Black isn't dull. It's excellent. :smt023

Red or Black was just boring for me. 75 minutes is far too long.

First time I'd seen a game live where the player had taken a gamble I wouldn't have taken and crashed.

Reminded me of 2 games, I'd seen on my previous vist. One was Dale (who also took a gamble I wouldn't have done) and the other was Claire's game (who also got a 3 box offer on a £100k/peanuts board - although that was a derisory offer) and then took the £100k out in the 20th box.

Would have been fascinating to see what the 2-box offer would have been had he kept the £100k in play and whether he would have dealt.

The improvised 2nd break link seemed flawless in the edit but took a couple of attempts in real time to get right.

Haha! I'm going to add that to my Quotes of 2011 list! :-D

Probably would have taken the £23k myself, I wasn't surprised Mark gambled though.
My impression was that he had his (unspecified) target and so long as there was the potential to reach or exceed that target he wasn't prepared to settle for a compromise sum. Some targetists when they see the board stacked against them will take the prudent route but Mark cleary had his heart set on that sum or nothing. On this occassion that was the wrong decision.

With the whole playing on with honesty thing has The Banker ever rang someone who isn't in live play with an offer at 3-box?

I don't think it is *that* mark. If I had played DOND and brought home anything less than £5k I'd never ever watch the show again.

I know it's not really him, but it's fun to think it may be. :P

And you probably won't be too happy either to hear that Dead or Black is proving to be a flop. ;)

BTW, is that the first time we've had back-to-back normal shows with 3-box offers?

It's not - I know in January 2010 that Tom and Courtney both had 3-box offers, though neither dealt them. There may be other instances too.

Didn't see this game but it sounds like Mark had a gameplan he was determined to stick with, and seemed happy to do so whatever the outcome. Some people should be reminded that that outcome is why people don't "just go for it", though.

Well, at least I'm not like Noel - knowing him, he'd probably say that it was the first time... ;)

And, knowing him, he probably will end up forgetting Mark. ;)
