£18,000?!

I would tell The Banker to put that somewhere else!

Statistically poor, but when you're at 2-box and it's a coin flip, it's hard to turn down that kind of money regardless.

I know I would have wrinkled my nose at the offer, but heck I could use £18,000 right about now.

Well that £10k turned out to be the best possible first box - because she couldn't hit the £100k, hitting £10k ensured she gained £18k instead of £12-15k and spared her a £26k+ hypothetical joke.

Good result, and she knew it.

£18k was a bad offer statistically but it was the right offer to get her out the chair. The offer patterns the whole game showed that it was never going to be anything close to Old Faithful.

18k may have been a poor offer, but a sensible decision for those who would not be prepared to go home with a blue. Not a lot more to say really.

£18k was such a CRAP offer. I would've gone on even if the 1p was there.

Offer me Ol' Faithful and that would be a DEAL!

But are you a person whose personal and financial circumstances would make the banker think that you would deal £18k.

The offers aren't decided by a computer simulation of the Banker but a real person.

I've said this before and I'll say it one more time. PLEASE, PLEASE go and watch a recording if you can where you get a better perspective of how difficult decisions are and the person playing is about 10 metres away from you and not a person on a TV screen.

The Banker played an absolute blinder there, he read Sharleen brilliantly

I'm not an advocate of blue-red gambles but £18k might just have been low enough for me to go for it. However, given her circumstances i can understand perfectly why Sharleen felt she had to take it. No matter the stats it's still a lot of money to gamble on a coin flip. It doesn't really matter what you bring to the table, without decent back up it might just as well be the 1p

Yes, although hitting the £10k seemed terrifying at the time (on the front row with veteran pilgrim Lynn for that one! :D ) - there was a lot of relief in the studio that she survived that final round with the £100k intact, although I didn't expect the offer to be in the teens as courage is often rewarded with generosity in avoiding the one-box, but then again she had (unwittingly) given away quite a bit about her utility curve during the game. Nonetheless, I have to say the banker played it brilliantly, as it didn't present a clear cut decision for her, which is what we want as a viewer.

Seem to remember a lot of product placement during this game that wasn't mentioned, and some aside about Sharleen needing to write to Ofcom or something as she had 'infringed' Channel 4's rules by listing various makes of hoovers and washing machines etc. (and puns were developed such as 'HotPoint of your game') - Anyway, this all finished (somehow, i forget how!) with Noel's we-buy-any-box.com 'jingle' (in the style of the car advert) which was hilarious! Fascinating inside info, there...

NOTE: This anecdote may have some factual inaccuracies due to Sharleen's game being recorded nearly 7 months ago :P

A beautiful game! Early high numbers cut her off at the knees and cut down her bubbly screaming personality. Call me names but the sight of the £100k in her box was pure indulgence for those norwichians on the side of the banker. That said, I totally understand the gamble. But compare that with todays game with Gurpal that I've just watched straight after. Now *that* is bravery!
