Adam's game today.

Noel says he doesn't know why contestants put themselves through nightmares by bringing their friends and family along! He talks about how Ciara was terrified of letting her mum down who was in the audience for her game yesterday.

Adam has box 1.

Adam has his girlfriend Kate in the audience today. Noel says her nickname for Adam is 'Prince'. :P Adam is a physiotherapy student from Manchester. He shows a pic of his family, and he has his late granddad's bus pass with him, and is also wearing his late granddad's belt. He says he inherited his gambling streak from his granddad!

Here we go...

The banker says if that had been 1p or 50p, he'd have matched the highest 3rd offer ever which was £40,000! He says he needs to consider his options and he hangs up. Adam says nothing's gone wrong and he's really happy with that board.

The banker phones back and says Adam's very level-headed for a 19-year-old.

Banker's offer:

£20,000

A stick is very generous but not worth dealing yet

OK, that's the best 'don't bring your family' spin Noel's used to date, saying it only adds to the difficulties for the players. As opposed to encouraging them to Deal too soon, which was his previous spin. Once again, we have a sign that Noel is becoming a lot more responsible than he used to be. Keep it up!

Oh, touch of irony, we have a player who is being inspired by his gambling grandfather. He's got a realistic streak though, he proves that by dismantling the 'feelings about the boxes' trope before he even makes the opening selection, and is rewarded with an excellent opening round, albeit not quite as stellar as a couple we've seen lately. We really are in a generous opening offer period at the moment, aren't we?

And that's a superb second round! He's got nowhere to go but into dealable territory... OK, maybe not quite yet, but it's the first £20k second offer of the season, and getting it that early and rejecting it will make the Banker nervous because he's proven himself to be no £20k targetist.

Even with the jackpot gone, he's in good shape. If it had to go before the ADP, better in round 3 than in round 4. I'd have Dealt the £40,000 if it had arrived though, ADP be damned. This stick is generous too, but I think the stage is set for near-mean offers for the rest of the game so although there's not much to chase, there's very little at risk in chasing it.
