Noel confirms the yellow cat is the smiling one.

Monique says she's had such a fantastic time and Noel says her boyfriend can keep the ears. :P

A game that fitted perfectly with the Alice in Wonderland theme in that it was very hard to what I'd have done.

Sadly Monique got the rough draw of the costumes there. :(

Interesting game with so many twists it got a little confusing, but at least the proveout offer was double exactly and not just above it. :)

I honestly have no idea what I would have done at any of the offers from 11-box onwards so in that sense it was a great game with several tough decisions to make, such a real shame she picked the wrong cat!

Very confusing to call this game simple, indeed, James

A personal trainer? I am genuinely considering becoming one of those in the future, something I wish I'd put in my application.

New Zealander starts the game, they used to air just the Aussie version of this show then did an Americanised version of their own... fourth-lowest amount is good in any version, and it's the start of an almost perfect opening round. Opening offer reflects it, it's an EV of £13k and the use of the twist already is quite notable in itself.

£35k isn't that bad, Noel, and you'd recognise that if you were in your goading form. Still, it's a dose of reality... which is followed after the break by a dose of surreality courtesy of a knit-wit. More comedy follows before, eventually, we get the blue. The Andy offer (EV £17k) is about right here.

Blue... blue!... blast. Still, it's deeply stable with six of the next seven down still in play. The offer is static, cleverly placed between the face value and the EV of the last offer, and is clearly designed not to be taken, even though it's a high percentage of the mean.

Two more blues, and low ones to boot; matt26 is exactly right when he says that this is a board on which sensible players can be aggressive. Oh crumbs, another blue! Wow, this really is stable, and we're going to need a near-mean offer here - if the cat twist is back, the potential offer needs to be an AMO. The cat twist isn't back, we get Old Faithful, I'm not sure there's much there to chase but as matt26 said, it's easy to do it on this board, especially if you have a competitive streak and are gunning for victory as much as the money.

You'd expect to hit one from each block of three here... and she takes the lowest from each, so about as good a round as you could reasonably plan for. 1/3 shot of extra offers, which on this board might be more of a curse than a blessing as it could easily create a 'gambling trap' - it's happened before on this sort of configuration at least once, I seem to recall - it doesn't happen, and I'd now be preparing for a Deal and the immediate rejection of the inevitable 50-50 gamble at the end. OK, that's slightly better, an actual clever offer based around what is now a 50% chance rather than a 1/3 chance, and the £30k EV is about the cash offer I'd expect. The headline figure going down is a clear sign that the producer wants a gamble here, and... oh, OK, that's brilliant, the best economic decision I've seen in this game this season. This is now a three-way decision; a certain £27,500, a 50% chance of either £20,000 or £40,000, or a highly uncertain two-box offer between £4,000 and £87,000. All three options are acceptable, and this is one of the best decisions of all time. She goes with the middle way, which is a good call, and consistent with the typical perception of £20k as the key utility curve inflection point. That said, as there are fairly obvious permutations where taking the £27,500 creates a Spanking and taking the initial cat offer does not, I would not have expected an ultra-competitive player to take that option. In a way, that makes it even more clearly the best call.

The £15k/£75k finish reinforces that, oddly; £27,500 instantly creates regrets, but now she has a 50% chance of matching the hypothetical offer. Lower amount in the box, so this could still be the perfect result... it isn't, but it's still a good win, and that's probably my game of the month, almost certainly the best use of gameplay twists I've ever seen.

It was basically a hybrid version. Americanised produced but the format and twists (Supercase, Double or Nothing, Car on the board) was similar to the Aussie version. Also there were the critisms by the viewers with the models having too much clevage.

Still, it's another version that is no longer on air that tried to adapt the US formula. I wonder how many countries are still airing DoND and 1 Vs 100 as the Americanised format?

Highly complex game throughout there, and it was an extremely difficult decision (or range of decisions!) to make at 5-box, every option was justifiable! Not sure what I'd have done, but the twist certainly made for a fascinating game today.

I just thought of another twist they could have introduced - if they hadn't waited until opening the rest of the boxes before revealing whether or not she'd picked the smiling cat, they could have had a banker's gamble if she'd upped the winnings to £40k! (Or alternatively there were other finishes, namely £100k/blue and £75k blue that were ripe for banker's gambles if she didn't find the smiling cat)! :)

Well, that was definitely a great game in terms of providing difficult decisions to make! The idea of a guaranteed 27.5k or 20k + 1 cat was certainly interesting; it was basically offering 27.5k on a 20k/40k finish. It was a shame that she couldn't find the smiling cat to double her winnings, but 20k is still a decent result.

Imagine how great it would have been if she was able to progress one box at a time though. Or for that matter, if she'd picked Beryl in round 5 rather than leaving her second to last!

I think the show had enough twists without throwing a BG into the mix.

What's going on? That's two good Sunday games in a row, unbelievable.

Monique had a fantastic game, an incredible board and some really tough decisions to make. The Banker givning her two potential offers at 5 box was an unexpected twist and while there was justification in going on there was no shame in bowing out with (either of) the offers concerned either. Just a shame it didn't pan out for her either with wiping the big reads in proveout, or finding the smiley cat. Still a great result though.
