Is there ever gonna be a game where the big ones stay longer than the second round, there seems to be a curse going on...

Old lady contestants in general haven't been having much luck in the past couple of months. Before Joyce, Helen won 50p, Mary got 2k, but sold away a 20k box, Peggy got £100 and Corinne got 1p (though tbf that one was due to reckless chasing of the top prize).

I was surprised that she turned down 7k at 8-box, where I felt it was a solid offer, but then took £6,750 at 2-box, where it was fairly mediocre. I suppose the risk is more pronounced at 2-box, because it basically becomes betting £6,000 on a coin-flip (albeit with higher reward than double), whereas at 8-box she had a low chance of complete collapse.

Here's a slightly obscure stat about the £750 - since Michael brought the amount to the table (and soon swapped it away for £50,000) in September 2009, no one with a name of more than five letters long (on their badge anyway) has brought it to the table - a run of 11 players! (Gary, Owain, Debs, Ginge, Clare, Jardi, H, Nat, Al, Mo and now Joyce)

Fascinating, eh?

And apparently this utterly pointless comment now puts me just 2 posts ahead of a forum member whose username can be made out of the letters of SMART LIE!

Very funny show, shame it couldn't have been matched with big money, but at least she managed to scrape the majority of the maximum out of it (barring a first-round deal or Wakeyist swapper). The last round, despite no huge money still remaining was really quite tense, and I was really hoping she'd end up with a £20k/£10k last pair (impossible of course!). At least she did a lot better than most of the other funny old women who have been on recenlty, as already pointed out! :)
