Owain gets advice from the wings, but the Banker then phones and says that if Owain carries on and keeps the top 3 in play his next offer will be at least £35,000. Owain goes over to Ginge for advice and she tells him to do what he really wants to do...

Owain says

DEAL

Look at that for a 5-box says Noel... The Banker tells ginge to whisper to all the contestants when they play!

Banker's offer would've been:

£26,000

Haven't seen an 8-Box Deal for a while so that was a surprise

But once again, someone bottles it too early and pays the price

I liked Owain; he seemed to be enjoying himself but also considering the money, and I think those are two important ingredients when you play DoND.

A nice normal show with no twists (well apart from the fact they were wearing scarves and had black boxes!). The deal he made was a sensible one I thought, as there was very little backing up the £250k. And it was quite honest of the banker to 'only' make a hypothetical offer of £50,000 at the end. He could've really punished Owain and said he'd have offered upwards of £70k or something, as he's always unpredictable on blue vs £250k finishes!

Well done Owain and enjoy the money!

I really enjoyed that game! A really likeable contestant and a great game! Was really happy to see him get £15,000 and only had £750 in the box which is a good result!

Congradulations Owain! Hope you enjoy £15,000 and hope you do well with the photography! :-D

On a board as scary for both sides as fireworks are for dogs, it's hard to criticise the Deal.

Highlights of the game? What else? The Banker mocking Noel's proveout nuttiness, then promptly keeping the two-box offer down to fifty grand on the Jennifer finish.

That was a good game today, thankfully free of the twists that have confused games lately! Owain was a likeable contestant, and not half as annoying as I thought he might be. He knew what he wanted and made a confident decision with the deal, and you can't really criticise the decision on a Laura-esque final 8 (I think she got offered a pound less if memory serves...). He nearly ended up with her finish unfortunately, and did end up with the offer the banker should've made to stop Laura winning the jackpot!

I loved the banker's send-up of Noel's phrases, and how exaggerated and overblown they often are. I was also musing about the unique aspect of this show, getting the players to wear woolly hats and scarfs in the middle of May...

Really enjoyed that game. Owain was a seriously likeable guy and I was very pleased he won serious money. Enjoy the car!

Not a bad game, Given the board the 8 box offer was justifiable either way, I had a suspicion there might be one more round in it myself but I don't know if i would have gone further than that.

Owain came across as a likeable - if excitable - young man and at 18 I would have found £15k a very welcome bonus. Shame the proveout didn't go his way but the boy still done good.

An enjoyable show today. Owain must have scarcely been above the lowest-age threshold for being on the show if he was still doing his A-levels! He was funny, Debs trying to do a geordie accent was funny, as was Anita having the 1p! (Reminded me of really young lads having the 1p in thirty-something women's games, like Martin in Shell's and Calum in Rachel's when he was the newbie - Look away mum! :) ).

Oh and the banker playing "Noel bingo". I'm sure "Not enough" should have been in there as well, particularly as in early 2007 he said it in almost everyone's proveouts when anything but the biggest number left in the game was revealed! ;-)

Anyway, I don't blame him one jot for taking the deal. I think I got sucked into the wakeyness a lot in 2008, and I'm really a board-analyser but when I first started watching the show (spring 2006) I was the biggest dealer ever, I was just convinced everyone should just deal when the offers got over 10 grand, and particularly when they approached 20 grand. Even if they missed out on a lot more, surely it was better than risking going home with hardly anything? :)

Now I'm thinking I would have gone to 5-box but imaging myself still at sixth form, £15k would have been life-changing and it would have been easy to leave a one-box game going on another round where you're at the banker's mercy.

There was stuff that reminded me of other Bonfire Night shows - £250k in the final two as last year, the fact that the last teenage male North-Easterner was called Martin whose namesake played last Bonfire Night, and also at 3-box he took out Terry's box when he thought he had the £250k - that was applying Charly logic to eliminating the box you might swap for to take the hard decision away! (The big difference was Owain would have most likely dealt on any high-volatility finish whereas as Charly was going hell-for-leather to get the last remaining red, the £20k, after seeing her great board get almost destroyed in 4 boxes!) :)

Deal was sensible today as was the proveout offer - we're never going to see a repeat of the Jennifer offer now.
