Noel says £40k at the age of 23 is very good news!

12 - Terry - £750

Noel says David is still ahead now.

22 - newbie Anita - £20,000

"OOOH NO" shouts Noel. He wonders if this could be a mega bluff from the banker.

14 - Ceri - £10,000

Banker time with £15,000 and £250,000 remaining.

And again... should have been more brave. Should have quickly asked for the question.

Banker's offer would've been:

£100,000

And that, a lot of people would've taken it!

And were going for a post-deal swap as well...

Noel says David is guaranteed the SWAP. David would've said SWAP.

Noel swaps David's box 5 for box 8.

David has £15,000 in his new box 8.

5 - Mary - £250,000

The banker was telling the truth that David brought £250k to the table!

Noel says the banker saved himself a lot of money, but he says what a great win David got. :D

Well, a massive amount of regret avoided by a Hypo-Swap

Straight down the line here...David knew the £250,000 was in his box after that final round, so he did the only thing he could have...and say he'd have swapped it away!

I thought probably £750 was on the table but once the offer cranked up you couldn't really think of anything else on the table for him to crank it up so high...

...I might well have also taken £40,000 but it'd have been with semi-regret as I'd have been pretty convinced it was on the table...

...ah well - at least it's a sizeable win!

Absolutely, the swap was just a means of trying saving face, although most people would surely be gone at £100k anyway. However, £40k is an excellent amount to go away with, same as similarly young contestant Calum.

It's about the threshold of offer I would take on that board, I'd have gone on at £30k, and probably at £35k, so £40k would've been perfectly pitched. The increases seemed to all but telegraph that £250k was on the table, but I would've resisted the temptation and been quite happy with 40k.

The banker needed to buy the box, and this way he could still save around 60k, and there was the possibility of a banker's gamble if £750 remained. I say the banker played that well, as it would've been a lethal situation had David gone on!

I very much doubt it'd have been a Gamble with £750 and £250,000 at the end...not on those circumstances; taking £40,000 having already been stamped into you that you probably have it...would have been one of the easiest jackpot wins of all time if he did offer it!

Would it have been that different from what he did with Alice though? Ok, so he didn't know she had the £250k, but there was a 50:50 chance she did have it and most people would've taken her gamble on after dealing at £17,500.

I think fewer people would've taken it on in David's position though, mainly due to the fact that it'd require risking a Power 5 sum, but also because the banker could well have been lying.

He's already shot himself in the foot this week when he mis-read Hassan and thought he'd swap his box to win £1 (even though he'd said he wouldn't swap). So it wouldn't have surprised me at all to see a BG in today's game.

Ooh heck. Properly interesting game this.

It's almost as if they didn't know if they wanted a male quarter-millionaire or not; they strongly hinted it was on the table, but did so by means of increasing the offer... still, hugely generous offer, and as StatsMan pointed out yesterday, it's very easy to make out-of-character No Deals in themed weeks. David didn't, and who cares about what happened next - he's won a life-changing sum of money, and we have another spook-tastic Trick or Treat game to go with some of the classics from last year.

I thought that was a fantastic game only tempered by the hypo swap.

Interesting strategy from the banker but better played by him than yesterday where he offered the undeal knowing full well 75K was in the box.

I'd still actually like to see a meaner banker if trick comes up again though. The problem is almost that the banker can't be trusted to be mean anymore!

The psychology of this week gets better and better with every TRICK that is picked. Hopefully, we wil get 2 treats so tomorrow and Friday's players don't have to wonder whether the banker will actually lie this week.

I may have thought the banker wasn't bluffing but I'm not risking £40k to find out if he was or wasn't.

I do wish that when the hyposwap is offered with the £250k in play at 2 box, that at least Noel would ask the contestant whether they would have no-dealt the 2 box.
