I didn't look them up, I was trying to think of periods where there have been runs of good fortune such as Spring 06, early 07 as Power 5 mentioned, Xmas 08 etc.....

I still haven't thought of the third one!

It's my claim to fame at work that someone asks me a date (since 31/10/05 obviously) and I tell them the name of the contestant who played that day and how much they won. :D

Someone sat with Wikipedia open and asked me about 10 and I rolled them all off!

Looking at that, it does look really good but having OPW's to go with it would've been much nicer ;)

I did think the third run of three £30k+ wins was going to straddle two seasons which is why I thought it was hard but there were blue wins either side of Nick D/Lance, and wins in the teens either side of Asim/Rossano, and summer 08 was almost all low wins anyway!

Oh and KB - this week or a week with 6 OPWs but the highest of which is £10,000? :)

It was certainly a tense game and Liam was playing a clever game.
I do have to say though hats off to the banker for being brave and telling the truth although if I was playing I wouldn't let the banker look in any of the boxes.
I do think that he should have gone for it as he had a minimum of £15,000 but still £60,000 is nothing to be sniffed at and I do hope that he does his nursing training.
Just think he will still have about £40,000 after the nursing training although probably pay off a lot of the mortgage with the money.
I am so pleased that he a happy person and what he said at the beginning when he mentioned he had only ever a maximun of £1,400 in his bank account proves that people don't have to be filthy rich to be happy.
I would rather I just had enough money to live comfortable, be extremely happy and try to enjoy every moment if I could than be greedy and not be happy.

Excellent psychological game today, so many facets and twists and turns, and a great battle between player and banker, and for once the player was nearly matched up perfectly to the board - it did seem possible at one point that he might well have become the second quarter-millionaire.

It's not often in a game I would contemplate turning down £60k, but today's was one of those occasions, and not because my instinct said the £250k was in box 2 as the banker had said, but because I would be perfectly satisfied with £15k, and would never have a 66% chance of winning £100k again.

It was another extraordinary mega money game like a lot recently where the peak offer has approached 6-figures! I thought Liam was brave to let the banker look inside the box, and perhaps if he didn't his route to £100k would've been easier without the mind games, but 60k is a great result, and a good finish to the week of specials.

Well done on those two! Although I suspect you researched the answers there. Which is fair enough really, since I did too.

(The third one is a little bit more difficult...)

You're not referring to the xmas stars '07 (Alan, Bridget, Sylvia), are you? Although technically those wouldn't have been filmed as consecutive shows... :ponder:

Hee hee! Yep, as James1978 spotted, games 627 (Alan), 628 (Bridget) and 629 (Sylvia) all had wins of above £30k.

I worded my question very carefully!

What a brilliant end to Birthday week. That was a real battle of wills with some interesting twists, not least Liam agreeing to let the Banker look in a box.

Third game in a row where the player has bowed out before the game had peaked and i get the impression Liam is the one who regrets it most. But then being convinced you know where the £250k is one thing, risking £60k on a hunch is something else.

On the one hand i have to say £60k was an excellent and almost irrisitable offer (certainly a vast improvement on the banker's initital offer of £45k) but at the same time that was such a strong board at three box, and given Liam's target was only £18,000 I'm a little surprised he didn't go for it. Worse case scenario he'd be left with £15k & £20k and the likelihood of an offer close to the mean which would have been near enough to his target for a deal.
