A very smart Noel introduces the Christmas Star Special today, with the wings made up of friends and family of the Christmas Star....

Noel introduces the video to today's Christmas Star Ian Gellatly, who was confined to a wheelchair at age 23.

A diving accident...leaving him paralysed all over...something like that would completely shatter your life, so I'm already in awe!

These games are always interesting because you remove any influence previous games have in the game and with the player being allowed to pick their own box, it removes any hypothetical swaps too.

And just to prove me wrong, he goes and picks the death box.

Ian makes his way to the pound table and talks to Noel about the nomination to appear on the show, and he tells us that his sister who is on the wings nominated him.

Ian tells Noel how he could use any money he wins today to help make his life easier getting around. He plays a little poker, so is looking forward to his battle with the Banker.

In the Christmas starts the contestant gets to choose their own box from the wings, and today Ian chooses box 22.

Being allowed to pick their box doesn't mean they can do a swap in the proveout. They can always have a second important number in mind, also if the £250,000 is there at the final two then it will definitely be used.

Fair play to Channel 4 to giving them a full 60 minutes this year, felt last year 45 minutes wasn't enough to fit everything in.

I thought that Noel might have done an inappropriate break link there, e.g. "I hear you broke your neck... we're going to have a different type of break now!"

Or maybe it was my bad opinion of Noel.
