Lets just hope today does not encourage lots of 3rd offer deals for the rest of week.

Indeed.

And unless you have a game like Philomena's, or joke offers all the way, the only way you can win tiny is by gambling!

Oh.

Ok, I've changed my mind, let's bring back the early deals, they can be pretty bad but I really do prefer them to blue wins. That game really REALLY did not help, the one player in what seems like forever who plays to the end wins, er, that. And yeah, what was with the total lack of box shot for Hayley revealing the penny, did they forget or was the director trying to be clever!

Jay becomes the 22nd person to win an amount under a pound, enough to fill an entire West and East wing, so what I might do now is do a sort of wing lineup picture with all 22 of them standing together - 11 1p club members, 6 10p club, 3 50p club, and two comedy deals (2p and 52p). Would make an awesome 'second chance' series. A tip for future contestants is to stand in W1, W4, W7, E2, E7 or E9, as none of them have had any wins of less than a pound!

You know what would be really really awesome? If Ashleigh plays tomorrow and gets an absolutely massive OPW on power-5 levels. I can dream!

You can't actually say it out loud can you

So you're saying deal at low sums all the time then? You have to gamble to get to anything decent really unless he forces you with joke offers to a high offer finish.

AT LAST!!! WE GET THE POWER 5 WIN WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!

Oh, it was the wrong Power 5.

On a side note, when was the last time someone won one of the banker's Power 5? Something's telling me Lee?

Quite ironic the banker commented how there have been few blue wins over the past 40 shows, and it happens today. Like I said in the commentary, what about the number of big wins in the past 2 months... I think that's lower than the number of blue wins...

Anyway I liked Jay and thought he would perhaps be a bit too cocky, but he wasn't at all. It was actually nice to see a young male not being over-confident with the board that he faced. I sensed Jay was very much a realist. He did have a good get out sum but he chose to carry on. I thought he was going to deal, and I would've done too because a 3 blues vs £15k and £35k was very unstable, especially with 1p and 10p still up there. £7,500 wasn't bad either, considering the number of Banker Power 5 values left.

Still, if Jay had to join a low value blue club, I'd wish the 10p club on him, as it's my favourite blue club. Time to update my 10p sig... :P

I'm afraid I have to agree with KP. It was bad luck taking out the top 2 but the offer was more than generous enough not to take the risk.

Yesterday, everyone was complaining that the £16K offer was too low because the banker knew she would deal. Today it was 75% of the mean with only a 40% chance of the offer going up at 2 box (although I doubt £35K and a blue would have been much more than £10K).

Today was a 5-box gamble that should have only been no-dealt if you were prepared to gamble at 2 box on a red/blue finish. Personally, that isn't me.

Oh and I took issue with Noel saying he couldn't guarantee the offer would go up, but he thinks it would. I distinctly remember in proveout before him saying that he "guarantees" the offer will go up...

The percentage call was to deal but equally £7500 isn't such a life changing amount that you feel you couldn't take a gamble to chase the £35k.

You can only criticise if people burst into tears like they didn't understand teh risks.

Doesn't it depend on your perception of "BIG" though? £20,000 is massive to me, and on any reasonable board I could get that through a deal.

However, this is not an indication that I'm out at £20,000 instantly in any game, but purely that big money is different for different people. You feel gambling is the best way to go on this game, fine. I don't 100% agree, but I dont think it's necessiarily wrong.

Well I liked Jay. He had a bit of spirit and character but alas not the luck today. After an early shocker of a round it looked like things were turning round and I was convinced the very generous offer at 5 box would have him out of there.

But he wanted to have a go at the really big money and who can blame him!! Its likely to be his only chance ever to win a substantial amount of money and the whole point of the show. Where is the logic in dealing for £7500 when he can probably earn that in a few months as a plasterer.

Alas fortune did not favor him and the subsequent catastrophe was scant reward for his bravery. And as for the tears on the wings. Jeez. Nobody has died. He's still got a lovely gf. He's fit and healthy and he still went home with more than he came with. You'd think the world was ending the way some of them were blubbing.

An unlucky game but at least it was lively and watchable.

Ouch! I just watched the game - how unlucky. Jay was brave and deserved so much better, right up until the last couple of minutes I kept hoping it would come good.

Jay came over as a bit of a smart alec at times on the wings, but he seemed a great guy once he was in the chair.

What a bummer, a few nervous players will probably deal low for a while after that one.

Well at least he won a blue by being brave and turning down what were decent offers (not not definite deals) on a bad board, rather than being forced on. He was fully appreciative of the chance of disaster I think, even though he looked basolutely gutted at the end (well who wouldn't) - but at least he didn't lose anything life-changing.

And I liked him more than I thought I would fropm his time on the wings.

A real shame - I really don't want it to over-influence the coming players, I'm worried about that!

(And at least early deals won't get you 10p) :)

And the dodgy editing award goes to today's 1p box opening.

In all honesty Jay had a bad game from the off and it just never recovered. Yeah he had £7,500 offered twice but I think (or thought) that it was a risk worth taking, one that I think I would of taken too. I don't feel Jay was being greedy either and wanted to try and make the most of the moment. Bad luck Jay.

It seems to me at the moment that the show is stuck in a bit of a rut and we just can't get that big win needed to boost everyone's confidence. We either get someone going to the end who wipes out all the big numbers and then when we do get the right board the player deals and ends up losing out on a lot of money which in turn generates more disapointment, even if it was a good offer. If tommorow we could just get a massive win and a big victory over the Banker that would be great, and I think help the show at the current moment.

So I take it that today's 1p box was the only box we have NEVER seen in the whole time of the show?

I know when the show first started it happened on occasion where we couldn't see the box and it's content's straight away, and as the numbers weren't coloured back then it was harder to distinguish.

That's partly the reason why some people open the boxes slower now so that the camera can get in position. Though the editors sometimes drag the opening even longer with a cut away shot of the audience.

That'll serve me right for saying we don't have any gamblers on the wings! Really unlucky game - as soon as he took out out the £250k and the £100k, I sensed it probably wouldn't be his day, and it was just one of those horrible slow trainwreck games.

That block of the bottom 6 was frightening at the halfway stage, so much so that I was thinking to myself already "whatever you do, don't go to the end" (easy to say in hindsight, I know, but there was a 51% chance of a blue/blue finish at the halfway stage!). And the £7,500 5-box offer was a respectable get-out, which I would have taken, but I don't blame Jay for carrying on. Noel was out of line for trying to second-guess that the next offer would be higher, though - let the player (and the banker) be the judge of that.

An entertaining game at last, but unfortunately for the wrong reasons, I hope that doesn't encourage more ultra cautious deals over the coming weeks (though I suspect it will...).
