Phyllis thinks she has the 1p, and the £50,000 is in box 17 with Steve... Noel is quite shocked at what the banker tells him he would have offered...

The banker says he would have offered £10,000 here, and then offers Phyllis the chance to give back the £10,000 and then take whatever is in her box!!!

Noel then asks if she would swap as well, although the banker hasn't offered that yet!!

The banker calls back and then says he will offer the swap as well...

This has just made a nonsense of the whole concept of the show. Death of a TV show? In my opinion, we're getting very close.

Phyllis says she was happy to deal at £10,000, and she is still happy with that...

Noel asks if Phyllis would have swapped if she played on, and Phyllis says she would have.

Noel does the hypothetical SWAP

Noel opens Phyllis' box 17 and reveals £50,000

Box 8 contains the 1p

Noel just mentioned new tactics, it's not new tactics it's cheating on your own show, changing the rules to suit you.

redrum666 = KP...

Well it seemed pretty illogical to me that it was just a gimic she'd have never that last offer, it would take a bigger gambler to carry on than to deal when she did, so she was never going to take it and the Banker knew that.

Good game!

That totally messed up the format of the show. And yes, I understand she was grieving for her husband, and did seem quite emotionally fragile, but offering a player to take back a 'Deal' is totally out of line. I can't decide if that was a pity-fest from the Banker, or if he really did want her to get the penny. :?

Well we were promised surprises at the start of the season - but I NEVER would have expected that!

Then again, it kinda has a nice ring to it - so far The Banker has only pulled nasty twists like this if the 1p is still in play at the end!

It wasn't fair to do that to her in my opinion. How happy would she have been if it had just carried on as normal and she'd sold the 1p box for 10k? Like it should have been.

She was right though, the 50k was in box 17.

I wish she had had a go if im honest.

But to be honest he needs to try this tactic on a more gambling type player if you get me.

I knew she would take the 10K it was a bit wimpy but she got away with it since she SOLD A 1P BOX for 10K

so Noel better not go on saying she blew 40K coz of some hypo swap it makes the game inconclusive.

Guys its a game, the banker can do what he wants, i liked what happened (well except her not winning £50,000) I hope he does that again, it givesthe show an extra twist to it!

Everytime something different happens to the show, some people go on and on saying dont mess up the format! The banker can do whatever he wants!

anyways, enjoy £10,000 Phyllis

The following has been taken from Deal or No Deal Australia. It has been done before.

http://au.blogs.yahoo.com/dealornodeal/3/the-rules

Quote:
THE CHANCE FEATURE

After a Finalist has accepted a Bank Offer and made a Deal, the CHANCE feature may be introduced by the Deal or No Deal Bank. This will be introduced by a special siren and clearly identified on the Deal or No Deal cash board. With two briefcases remaining to be opened, the Bank may offer the Finalist a Chance to retract their Deal decision. If the Finalist accepts, they forfeit all winnings from their previously made Deal, and instead take home whatever is inside their selected briefcase. In effect, they are risking their Deal against the contents of their briefcase. Accepting the Chance offer is not compulsory. If the Finalist declines to take the Chance, they will still leave with the amount or prize (CAR) they accepted when the Deal was made. The Game will be played out as normal. The Chance feature is to be used in selected Games at the Producers discretion.
