It's Sunday night, and that means it's time for another Le Banquier recap. This week, the show celebrates Halloween with lots of surprises in store.

Our contestant is 40-year-old Marc from Repentigny. He's a stay-at-home dad, and has four children. Marc is in costume as well, and he's dressed as a Transformer. The costume has to be seen to be believed, so here's a preview clip that shows Marc's awesome self-made costume: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbrbXlTG ... 7pBDeHH8Zg

The models are all in costume as well, and I have to say, the show went all out to put together some great costumes.

To select his case, Marc's friends bring out a smaller briefcase. Julie, who is dressed as a pumpkin, presses a button on the front of the case, and it transforms into a random number generator. The first number it spits out is 24, so Marc picks that as his case.

But wait, we can't start the game just yet. Julie explains a special bonus for this game. Each of the models is actually a prominent Quebec celebrity, and if Marc correctly identifies them, he wins $500 per correct guess.

With some help from Julie, Marc identifies Francois Perusse as the bearer of case 24, so right off the bat, he's got 500 bucks in his pocket. The Ingot d'Or and Surprise bonuses are also in play.

Now that that's taken care of, we can officially start.

Round 1 - 6 to open
Marc will use the case-turned-random number generator to make his selections in each round.

[9] - $400 (Alain Dumas)
[23] - $50,000 - Marc correctly identifies Jean-Michel Anctil, and wins another $500.
[3] - $25,000 (Alex Perron)
[10] - $200 - Marc correctly identifies Marie-Chantal Toupin, and wins another $500.
[4] - $1,000 (Martin Desjardins)
[11] - $150,000 (Joel Legendre)

Offre du Banquier: $46,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 2 - 5 to open
[26] - $10,000 / Ingot d'Or - Marc wins a $10,000 bonus from Capital One, plus another $500 for correctly identifying Melissa Bedard.
[16] - $400,000 (Richard Z. Sirois)
[15] - $5,000 - Marc correctly identifies Charlotte Cardin-Goyer, and wins another $500.
[17] - $20 (Daniel Savoie)
[25] - $.01 (Lucian Bute)

Offre du Banquier: $55,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 3 - 4 to open
[2] - $125,000 (Kim Rusk)
[14] - $100,000 - Marc correctly identifies Boucar Diouf, and wins another $500.
[13] - $10 (Richard Martineau)
[12] - $200,000 - Marc correctly identifies Alexandre Despatie, and wins another $500.

Offre du Banquier: $63,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 4 - 3 to open
[1] - $500 / Surprise - Marc wins a trip to Orlando from Expedia worth $10,000, plus another $500 for correctly identifying Patricia Paquin.
[18] - $50 - Marc correctly identifies Anne Casabonne, and wins another $500.
[19] - $500,000 - D'oh! (Maxime Landry)

Offre du Banquier: $51,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 5 - 2 to open
[20] - $1 - Marc correctly identifies Tammy Verge, and wins another $500.
[21] - $100 - Marc correctly identifies Etienne Boulay, and wins another $500.

Offre du Banquier: $64,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 5 Random Fact: During Le Banquier's first season in 2007, host Julie Snyder played the game for charity while her good friend Celine Dion - yes, that one - hosted. Julie dealt at $81,000, but missed out on offers as high as $125,000 (which would've been offered on a $25,000 / $200,000 final two). Julie had $25,000 in her case 17. Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, acted as guest banker for the entire show, but only revealed himself at the end.

Round 6 - 1 to open - Sponsored by Mark Industries
[5] - $750 - Marc correctly identifies Mahée Paiement, and wins another $500.

Offre du Banquier: $84,000

Marc says: REFUSÉE

Round 7 - 1 to open
[22] - $75 - Marc correctly identifies Normand D'Amour, and wins another $500. In case you were keeping count, he's racked up a total of $6,500 for identifying the costumed celebrities.

Offre du Banquier: $112,000

Marc says: ACCEPTÉE

Proveouts

Round 8 - 1 to open
[6] - $300,000 (Anne-Soleil Proteau)

The other unrevealed cases:
[7] - $5 (Jean-Francois Baril)
[8] - $300 (Jean-Marie Lapointe)

Last week, Ligue Nationale d'Improvisation superfan Olivier Guindon sold a $175,000 case for $102,000. Could the same amount be sitting on the Dollar Desk again?

Julie opens Marc's case 24, and reveals $175,000. Not the world's greatest deal.

But Marc goes home a happy man with total winnings of $138,500 in cash and prizes :).

Next week, Celine Dion returns to the set of Le Banquier to play for charity. Until then, have a great week, and may all your deals be spankings :).

I saw the episode where Julie Snyder played on YouTube, and the ending was an INSULT to Deal or No Deal as we know it. :smt011 :smt019 She got offered $81,000 with 8 cases left and a top prize of $200,000, meaning the offer was over 160% of the average. Also, she got a $25,000 bonus for pretty much nothing and on top of all that, since she was playing for 2 charities the show doubled her winnings so that both her charities could go away with $106,000. With all the ludicrous bonuses accounted for, her Deal was for MORE than the top prize she had on the board when she dealt. Charity or not, that was completely unfair to all the other people who have ever played the show. :smt011 :smt019
