A wonderful read from start to finish, and I'm so glad that the camaraderie and kinship that came across on screen really was genuine. With hindsight, knowing Glenn and co were going for a completely ad-hoc format where anything went and nothing was edited out, what a stroke of luck it was that they found Noel Edmonds.
I did enjoy the reminiscences about overhearing people chatting about the show and leaving them a Banker business card, too...but that was the genius behind the character of the Banker, just as with the Stig: if Glenn had turned round and said, 'actually, funny you should mention that dreadful offer, I just happen to be the Banker!', nobody would've believed him anyway.
'How on earth do you get them to say they've had the time of their lives?'
'By giving them the time of their lives.'Magic.
