For me Martin in 2009. It wasn't his fault he won a blue. Also Angela in 2008 I thought it was her fault she won a blue because she should of took 10,000 was it? I thought why was she crying all over that. For Martin he was unlucky and the offer at 2 box was like Fadil's poor. Who is it for you?

As far as emotional RED winners, the top 3 are:

1. Donna Frampton (of course ;) )
2. £8,500 Amy
3. £70,000 Paul :smt011

The last of which was absurd as he still won a life-changing sum of money even though he missed out on the jackpot.

As far as emotional BLUE winners, the top 3 are:

1. £700 Rosie
2. £100 Angela
3. £1 Martin

If 70k Paul won the 1p I couldn't bare to see what it would be like.

Your top three, Mr Rodriguez, your top three. :smt023

I don't really care that much, if I'm honest... :ponder:

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

£100 Joy (March 2008) Certainly one of the saddest endings ever. She was vulnerable and not as strong as she used to be, and i'll never forget when she broke down crying at the very end, having tried her best to hold herself together, and Noel had to stay with her at the table when he farewelled the viewers and the credits rolled  :smt009

£0 Peter from January this year was another one. He was inconsolable after winning nothing, and the other contestants had to join him at the table to console him before Noel said goodbye etc. :(

Was Peter the one who had 750 and 10,000 left and won 750

Yep, and before that he was VERY unsure about his 5 box offer of £4,750. As soon as he declined it, he had massive regrets about not taking it, prompting the Banker to make a JOKE offer of £2,375 on his £750/£10k finish. :smt011 After Peter won the £750, he was even reluctant to risk it on Box 23, fearing what actually happened. :smt009

1p Matty. Got too cocky and almost demanded a swap at the start, which did happen, he declined two EXTREMELY generous £20k offers at 14-box and 11-box, and then his game crashed and he found out his original box had £50,000, and when the last red (£35k) was discovered and only blues remained, the audience went totally silent and Matty was totally mortified as he tried to comfort his distraught wife in the audience

The mood was so somber that no one could even clap to support him after that, and when the 1p was revealed in his box, the deathly silence in the studio and Matty's mortified expression said it all :(

£100 Lisa from October 2006 is another one. She declined £14,000 with a reasonable board at 11-box and was crying almost hysterically when she took out all the big amounts in the next couple of rounds! :smt009

Wasn't 1p Trevor the first blue win that was taken badly or the contestant looked pretty emotional about?

I haven't physically seen Nessie's game from June 2006, but judging by posts about her game, it sounds like she was pretty emotional about losing out on a £10/£15k gamble at 2-box

The article has long since been taken down, but several years ago, I read a story about a contestant on one of international versions taking his own life after winning a blue amount in his game. Apparently, he had really wanted to help his family, and after his game fell apart, he felt he had brought shame upon them. He was also a complete mess on set, and was totally distraught at the game's end. That's the worst blue reaction I've ever heard about.

As for the people mentioned above, the results they got were mostly their own fault. Many of them received decent offers in their games, but rather than do the sensible thing and deal, they let greed consume them. So I can't say I have any sympathy for them as a result.

What's worse is that many of these people then defend their stupidity on Deal's official Facebook page, thus making themselves look even stupider in the process.

I think Trevor's game was the most saddest moment in the whole show. It was Endemol fault he won 1p not his. He deserves a 2nd chance

I was only thinking about Nessie the other evening, actually. Nice girl...eight and a half years, now...

Trevor is someone I often mention when I comment on threads like this; at the end, I left the living room feeling dejected, deprived, almost dismayed. I could understand why he didn't 'take it' very well, too - he needed that money to see his long-lost brother in Australia, after all. That was actually quite a sad game to witness. :|

Still couldn't believe she was 38 when she played her game, she almost looked mid-20s at the oldest!

How about Kelsie in 2007. Who dealt 29k and had the 250k in her box

That's a huge 'blue' amount! What sort of special show was this where the amounts were enlarged to the point where £29,000 was on the left hand side of the board!?

Trevor's game was harrowing indeed and even saddened the 12-year old utter schadenfreude-ist that I was. But in terms of being given a second go, a catch up interview with him later in 2006 revealed he did have a flight booked to Australia, so there's your happy ending.

Oh goodness, Nessie was indeed 38 - she could have passed for a uni student! She even logged onto here to register her shock and pleasure at others believing she was easily in the lower end of the 20's. Now she could be 47... oh goodness indeed.

There was some old woman called Joy in 2008 who won some piddling amount and she *needed* the money to ensure her house stayed connected to power or something awful like that. She just completely broke down in tears and Noel cued the credits with barely a whisper to see out the show. That was completely awful.

Nessie played on what Noel called Wicked Wednesday because Scott who played in the evening game that day won just £5 fast forwarding to this year Melissa who £1 a few weeks ago has to be a shout hasn't it

I just remembered John from June 2009. This was a weird one because he had a happy family and didn't have a sob-story, but from about 8-box onwards he was just a mess!

His game was plagued by bad luck, and he ended up with £50. but even before 8-box, despite the bad luck, he was pretty energetic and had some good banter with Noel, but then at 8-box he suddenly burst into tears talking about his family (nothing was said about any close family members being deceased, unwell or going through financial turmoil), and he just didn't have a dry eye at all for the rest of the show :smt009

And to think, this game went down as a DoND 'classic'! :? The emotion wasn't even powerful (unlike Kerry's game a few weeks later), it was just a bloke crying his eyes out for no apparent reason and the 'emotion' frankly felt more awkward than sad or moving :smt011

It'd be interesting to see just how impacting a blue win after declining £significantpounds was to some contestants. I wonder this because I have a family member who appeared on So You Want To Be a Millionaire Then, Mate? many years ago and spent years racked with regret for changing his mind from the right answer to the wrong answer, stalling at £32k rather than progressing to £64k and potentially more. The tolling bell of 'if only' ringing around their head was HUGE - and this was after some decent money was scored!

There are doubtlessly going to be a fair few contestants who, to this day, will lose themselves to the recurring thought of ''...why DIDN'T you accept that £20k?''. At least the trainwreck contestants have no regrets, so while a few of those were visibly upset during recording, there's no mind-torture aftermath. Just... crap luck. Can't do owt.
