Noel uses this phrase a lot, and it had me wondering..

Which events in the life of Deal or No Deal have had you a bit gobsmacked?..

I'll kick off with Paddy opening the 50,000th box. It being the Death box, Containing the £250,000. THEN as we know in his game be because the FMQM. The game he opened the box in was Jill's game who had the best ever opening round, and spanked the banker for £20k.

Impressive, some may say ;)

The one that immediately came to my mind (and I think it was before Noel started using that phrase) was in Annie's game back in 2007, which was also the 500th show with an increased jackpot.

She took out the £500,000 in the first box and then took out the 1p in the next box.

That caused Noel to do this:

There is also the "Christmas Day Curse" (Ok, not for all years... but you get my drift)

Er... Marlene mentioning at the start of her game she'd played the Deal App and "won" £118,000, and actually going on to do that! That was particularly spooky to witness! :eyes:

The vicar's 'divine intervention' when £250k was missing from the box! Similar situation when a box was dropped on the floor in Massimo's game, but the re-shuffle didn't work out as well for him...

Mary's moment of course...

THE FLOOD!

Marlene? Blah, Bunney did that 7 years ago...sort of...well, not quite, as he won £110,000 in his game rather than the £250k, but, you know, aside from the technicalities of it... ;) :smt023

  • The powercut in Kerry's game (Apr 2007), whereby Noel ended up using a torch to do the left-to-right light sequence on the viewer competition boxes at the start of the break.
  • Michaela having the £250k four times in a row back in Sep 2006. I think she still holds that record, certainly for the £250k anyway (and a forum search reveals that someone had the £250k three times in a row in 2011 and Noel said that had never happened before!).

You've reminded me of £1,500 Chris' game from February 2006 when Sam opened the last box which was blank! Wish there was still a clip of that floating round somewhere...

EDIT: As soon as I hit submit on this post, I remembered this rather bizarre gif website thingy someone made back in the day...

Well you could argue as well about Jen's game in March last year.

When she dealt the £45,000 I just "knew" that she would have the dream ending and the £250,000 was in her sons birthday.

Many times while watching the show, I've jokingly imagined certain sums of money coming out of boxes, just to myself, and they have!

Another 'moment' I can think of is when Simon from July 2009 changed his mind over taking the DTKATBG after his wife infamously passed out, and won £35,000 as a result!

Poor unfortunate Lara having the worst possible opening round on the 2,000th show.

For about 30 seconds :smt023

Yeah, but Marlene's was a far more remarkable coincidence than either of those games - Bunney just left the £250k with A N Other, and Jen was just superstition on your part! :smt023

Jen did mention she played the board game at Christmas, and was left with the Dream Finish, and her sons birthday had the £250,000 ;)

BIG DEAL! This thread is moments that stick in people's mind, so it's trivial to argue about it! :smt023

This seems like a meaningless phrase to me. But I'm from Canada, so maybe I don't get it.

Is failure "so Deal or No Deal?" It happens a lot on this show.

"Ice Cream Gaz" from Isle of Wight picked £250,000 as his first box in his game in 2006,
then went all the way to win £100,000 in his box.

It's official: Failure is so Deal or No Deal, because winning life-changing sums of money is too mainstream.
