There wasn't a poll for this, which surprised me, so now....there IS! :D :D :D :D (that's 4 for the late Ian W.... :smt023  )

So, after ACB hauled Tia's deal at £6,000 into the Horrible Deals Club, I ask you - what did you make of her decision?

Was it just cautious, horrible or a justified good decision to make? (Or whatever word you want to use instead of those, of course).

You have from now until the end of eternity to vote. So hurry, pressure's on.... :smt023

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Cautious, definitely. It was in no way horrible as there was a HUGE chance of disaster and losing the £250k basically meant it was game over. Katie's deal was much, MUCH worse.

Oops  , I was too focused on this week's classic Deal-eye game to do a poll.

I definitely put "Cautious with a certain degree of stupidity and/or defeatism to deal at such a low figure on THAT configuration" as she mainly dealt it in fear of leaving with nothing, refusing to consider the values all the high blues she had on the board. I would have considered the option below it, though, had it not been for the second sentence in it.

Eh. I still don't like using the word "stupid" to describe decisions where the contestant walks out with £6,000 when the possibility of winning £50 remains real, and I'm certainly not done watching the show.

I called it a bad deal yesterday because the blues remaining were not nonsense blues, and the chances were good of walking out with an amount comparable to £6,000 if the £250k were to go. That being said, she still has £6,000, and as JoelDavies has pointed out, there have been worse deals. I also much prefer games where the contestant wins a decent sum of money despite the contents of the box. They're much better than games where a contestant wins a blue, especially if it's a nonsense blue; this is true even if the gambles were statistically justifiable.

My instinct is "questionable enough to be a vaguely worthy holder of its implicit worst-deal-ever title, but not nearly the worst Deal ever."

I wish Katie still held the record. That actually was probably the worst Deal ever.

Cautious, perhaps a board misread, but I'm not honestly sure I'd want that much more on that configuration!

True I can't stand using the word "stupid" when there's that amount of money involved. I don't believe any decision concerning six thousand pounds is ever stupid. I don't even "quit" - after all, I still follow the game in some format (the show commentaries) and comment on it. That was an option I put there primarily for ACB's satisfaction. :smt023

Cautious though it clearly was, I can understand why Tia would deal at that point. For her, £6,000 must have looked quite cleverly-placed, just above the £5k. For me, the £15k above it and the QM would take me on another round, but she, like myself, has probably never touched £6,000 in her lifetime. It's a lot to consider.

It was cautious, plain and simple. Unfortunately, it backfired miserably for her, though.

Just a thought DONDFANS.

Surely, when you think about it... ANY player who deals, at that moment in time is cautious.

That's all!
