OK, here's an odd anecdote that seems oddly appropriate given today's events.

Earlier this year, I bought the Deal or No Deal DVD game from a second hand shop. I played it numerous times on my laptop when I first bought it, but I've barely played it since.

I did play it on my PS2 once, though, and something odd happened.

When I played the game, the £250,000 went in the final box of Round 5. But I recovered to a final two of £100,000 and £500 (I think). The offer made was £30,000, which I decided to take. Alas, the £100,000 was in the box! (OH DEAR!)

I played again immediately afterwards, but, after a while, I noticed something: the values appeared to be disappearing in the exact same order as the first game. My suspicions were confirmed when the £250,000 went in the final box of Round 5 again!

So, when faced with £100,000 and £500, this time, I declined the offer of £30,000, and won £100,000!

I just thought I'd mention this just to give an example of how easy it is to play the game with the benefit of hindsight, but not when you don't know what will happen next.

Any thoughts will be welcome. :smt023

No ranting intended.

If the values are disappearing in the exact same order as last time, it must be a pretty bad rendition of the game!

That reminds me of the first time I watched DoND as a kid, ever (well not DoND, but A Prendre ou a Laisser, the French version of DoND), and the top prize was eliminated in box 16. I told my mum to apply and choose box 16, because I was sure the top prize would always be in that box. Of course, I was wrong. Image

Yeah, unfortunately the first DVD had a set of box patterns and wasn't random :( they're here if you're interested.

I have the DVD game but haven't touched it for ages. Choosing the boxes is far too slow.

There's a hilarious playthrough of the DVD game here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx_gDJoQWvs

There is an online game here,

http://www.wedigtv.com/

but now it's only accessible by invitation only. Also had ads on there which you couldn't skip.

I recognised one of them as the finish Bunney referred to. But I take it you win the same amount whether you swap or not so if Bunney hadn't swapped on the DVD, he'd have not hypo-swapped in his game. :(

Yeah :| swaps at the end don't make any difference to the sequence. The Family Challenge DVD didn't use sequences, though.

Well, the Family Challenge DVD (with the blue cover) was the one that this incident happened with!

Maybe, it was just something to do with the PS2, as this never happened when I played it on my laptop.
