So. I thought I'd come up with this as an ex-avid fan, from way back when in 2006 to - I'd say the start of 2008 - who's just sort of flicked back now and then to see what the show is like nowadays. I watched all but 3 boxes of Zoleika's game - and I must say, I found it very good. But it seems to have changed, the show, a lot since the time when I was hooked.

New opening themes; new nickname of "Deal" (slightly biased? :-D ); I felt it almost had a run-of-the-mill quality to it, that there wasn't that "spark" I'd seen before. It's not new any more - maybe that's it.

But really I'm curious as to what people think, genuinely, about whether this show has blossomed as it's aged - or declined with age - or even not aged at all. Is it as popular - more popular? Less?
For people, especially, who've seen the show throughout its time on TV, and for those who've dipped in and out after becoming disillusioned at one point or another.
Maybe this wasn't the way I really wanted to phrase my question people - but maybe I should. That question is..from all the way back in 2005, to upto the present day.....which year has seen the best of DoND for you?

Poll runs until.......er, February 21st, 2014.

No rush, then.. :smt023

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I suppose I should be biased towards 2009, but I think 2006 was the best year. The show was still relatively new and there were some great stand-out characters - Pat M, Mad Sarah, Jim R, Lance, Di Please, Stevie, June, and so on. It was also fun seeing things happen for the first time - e.g. the first ever "swap", first ever gamble for the £250k, etc. (I know there are still "firsts" that happen even now, but they tend to be rather obscure things, like the first time the banker's revised an offer after the player's said "no deal".)

I'm gonna have to say 2009.

I first started watching the show in 2008. I missed a large portion of 2010, and we're only halfway through 2011. So yeah...2009.

I'm saying 2007, I think there were overall more characters than 2006, and it was before too much artificial stuff entered the game. I didn't start watching regularly till spring 2006 anyway.

Ouch. Erm, 2006 started badly (Sequencegate) and ended badly (the beginning of the nasty Wakey Winter), but what came in between was the best 6-9 month spell I can remember in a game show since Millionaire's purple patch in 1999-2000; 2007 was overshadowed by Noel all too often but combined entertaining contestants and dramatic moments to make it probably the most memorable year... I've been in and out ever since...

...you know what, I'm not even sure it's the best year, there's hardly any of it, but it was the only calendar year where DoND never made me want to throw things at the telly, so 2005 it is! :D

I think 2006 was best although 2009 had its good parts.

2007 had the best payouts but I think Rodney, Graeme and 75K Daniel were the most memorable games.

This year seems to be OK from the few weeks that I've seen, I think 2008 was probably the worst year.

2006-2007 was an awesome period as massive winners appeared in the top 20 regularly the end of 2008 and halfway through 2009 was amazing as well.
