New members of the forum - I have a message for you!

If you've just joined this grand old place, I welcome you with open arms - as do all of my fellows. You're in sterling company, with us, and I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I've loved my eight-and-counting years.

But it seems we've had an influx - a substantial influx - of people signing up and never making a post. The intake of posting members has dropped sharply in the last few years...down almost to zero, in fact. Coupled with the exodus of former regulars, as well as a number of people who were peripheral figures but still contributed, this means one thing: the forum is slowly dying.

I mentioned how I've been here for eight years. As you can probably guess, I've seen a lot in my time on this forum - I've seen great people come, have their time, and - by whatever means - disappear into the ether.

These last few years have been times of steady decline at dond.co.uk. But I call upon you - all of you - to help me turn that around.

If you've recently joined, or even if you signed up a while ago but haven't yet posted, I urge you to come forth, and introduce yourself here, and comment elsewhere on the other forums if you feel you're up to it.

New members of dond.co.uk, without you, this magnificent old place will die a slow and agonising death. It doesn't deserve that, and at the very least, if I have to put myself forward, neither do I.

I need you to come forward, I need you to take an active part in the resurrection and resurgence of this marvellous, wondrous and splendid website, I need all hands at the pump for the greatest recovery this good Internet has ever seen, and I'll tell you now, it's only what this forum and its beautiful people deserve.

Take a stand, with me, for all of my dear friends who went before me and for all who keep this forum alive today, for the cause of Deal or No Deal if we must, for the cause of all that is right and good in this world, for all that matters in this oft-bleak and haunted existence of ours, because this forum for some of us is an escape from the tortures of our lives and because for some of us, this is not just a forum. For some of us, it's so, so much more than that.

But it can't continue to live, and it can't exist at all, without your help, without your comments.

I've seen everything in my eight years here, but I still love this place dearly, and I will not - under any circumstances - ever allow it to die. Ever.

Come forth - take your stand - and alongside one another, we will make this forum thrive once more.

Thank you.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

some of you 'more established' members seem to be turning a blind eye to the fact that a handfull of people are trying to wreck your forum by spoiling the experience for others. And that this could be the reason for falling numbers.
