Hello, everyone. Hawker5ive here. Nice to meet - or rather, re-meet - you all
.
Bit of a background on me: I'm 26 years old, and I was born in Montreal, Canada. I currently call Toronto - specifically, Vaughan - my home. I work as a journalist, and I write for Canadian Real Estate Wealth, Canada's only real estate investment magazine.
I hold a bachelor's degree from Concordia University (2010), and I previously worked as a sports writer - specifically, NHL hockey and UK greyhound racing - for Daj.com and Examiner.com, in addition to serving as a presenter / newsreader / commercial writer / producer for a radio station in Montreal (CJRS AM 1650). At one point, I also operated my own business, MarkWorks Content Solutions.
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going on random adventures, photography, working out, doing improv comedy, and collecting transit memorabilia. I also enjoy crossword puzzles, and any kind of game that involves words. Oh, and there's that bit of being somewhat of a game show fan as well
.
My username is derived from the Hawker Siddeley H5 subway trains that the Toronto Transit Commission runs. Dating back to the late 1970s, they are the oldest in the fleet, and are sadly on their way out. They are in the process of being replaced by newer Toronto Rocket trains.
Some of you may remember me under my old username, Mad Mark. However, due to recent events, I chose to retire that name, and start anew as Hawker5ive.
I look forward to contributing to this community, in addition to getting to know all of you all over again. Thanks for having me aboard
