Not long ago, I got a pack (some call it strap not sure what UK-terminology of that is) of 100 brand new $1 notes (bills in USA-speak).

I am just wondering when the last time you got brand new notes at the bank was or how easily can you get them, considering that the smallest denomination (except in Scotland) is a fiver.

I am hoping to get a small amount of brand new (fivers) to give as gifts to my friends here in the USA.

Probably the only non-UKer to be in the audience ever...

Sometimes you will get brand new notes from a cash machine (ATM) which have sequential serial numbers on them.

I stocked up on dollars around June when the € to $ rate was exceptionally strong, think I got something like $1.66 for every €1.

Anyway, yeah I got a nice big bundle of crisp bills. I remember my boyfriend cooking burrito's and listening to Cuban music while I counted out the money on the table. Was like something out of a "gangsta" movie.
:-D

You will be very lucky to get decent five pound notes Goldeneye as most of them are very tatty. How many do you want? I will see what I can find and bring them to Bristol.

I will notify you on Friday afternoon/evening on this, since I do have to go to the BoE that Friday morning, since I have a withdrawn note to exchange, so I might be able to procure brand new notes in that or another transaction there.

The BoE should be the best place for you. Our banks close at 4pm Friday so I will leave it with you to get them, good luck.

I had two five pound coins. I spent them.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
