How do I sort currency values on a spreadsheet? I've tried sorting them but I can't get them in order, they come up like this instead:

£1,000
£10
£10,000
£100,000
£100,000
£15,000
£250
£250
£250,000
£3,000
£35,000
£50,000
£500
£500
£75,000
£750
50p
50p

... and it isn't really in any sort of order!!
I have Quattro Pro which basically is Excel.

It takes too long sorting the amounts in my head and I am certain that there is a way...

For example I would want it to start with the low values and then end with the high ones, but as you can see, it ain't happening!

I've googled for some help... but none has been useful...

PLEASE HELP!

I think it has something to do with the pound signs. I'm used to Excel so can't comment for this software, but try changing the format of the cells to "currency" rather than "general".

Yes, that's it. Go to "Format", click on "cells" (it should be the first one down), and then click on currency on the list it gives you. If you want it to be, say £315 instead of £315.00, put 0 in the decimals thingy instead of two.

As for them being in order, click on the button next to the weird E. It's an A above a Z, with a downward arrow next to it. Should say "sort ascending" or something similar when you hover over it. Drag the cursor over the amounts and then click on that symbol, and hey presto, they'll be in ascending order

Oh, and just from experience cookie, don't waste your time creating a game on Excel. I tried it about a year ago and gave up. Excel's useless at randomizing amounts aswell, for future reference.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Thanks Dan, I'll try it out in a minute, but I don't use Quattro Pro to randomize amounts, I just use it to store statistics.

I've tried it, but it does this:

£1
£1,000
£1,000
£10,000
£15,000
£15,000
£250
£250
£250,000
£250,000
£3,000
£5
£50
£50,000
£500
£75,000
£75,000
£750
£750
1p

It just groups it with the first number of the amount. Somehow I don't think that it can be put in order so I'll work with this way. At least the amounts are grouped together. :-)
