Never been a fan of MJ but looking at the footage of him as a youngster in The Jackson Five he was a cute and talented kid. In my era Elvis was king and still is. My sympathy goes out to his children, family and of course all you loyal fans. RIP

Looking at it from that perspective - we've now lost both of our Kings.

The question is, who is there now to succeed Jackson if anybody at all?
I know for certain that in almost 32 years, nobody has ever been able to top Presley - and I have an inkling we'll see a repeat of that in Pop. But of anybody, Jackson deserves to remain known as the very best at what he did - because he was.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I was shocked when I turned over to Sky News on Thursday night at 11pm to see the breaking news headline that Michael Jackson had died (at the time it was unconfirmed). I had only turned over to see the headlines and didn't expect to see that.

I continued to watch for a while till there was a confirmed statement. It was a shock to hear that MJ had died, especially when he was due to perform just next month.

I enjoyed some of MJ's music, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan on the scale like some people are.

RIP to Michael Jackson and my sympathy to all his friends & family. Hopefully the media will respect your privacy, but that's highly unlikely I know. Seeing the body of MJ being taken out in a stretcher and then into a helicopter, which was then followed by a news helicopter, I thought was a bit much.

Also RIP to Farrah Fawcett who also passed away the same day. My sympathy to her family & friends too.

Good grief. They're both as bad as each other. The school need to focus a bit more on educating this mess of a generation and the family need to get that kid back into school and stop complaining about their policy (or at least complain about it afterwards). You get nowhere with people these days. We live in a strange society and that policy reflects that!

If the boy is finding the whole thing so embarrassing (as his father claims), then why are they in the papers about it? The school are being a bit fussy as it's hardly a big moustache or a fashion statement. Mind you, he may as well just shave to shut them up. I started shaving when I was 14. :eyes:

Well, precisely. As do I. What I will ask is this: Why is a school making such a big issue of a bloody moustache? If this school were a good school, if it truly lived up to its name "The Academy", what they would be focusing on would be the bloke's education. Not his face. But alas, heads these days are more worried about the aesthetics of their pupils; they would much rather have a clean-shaven, conforming and rather unintelligent boy representing them than somebody in possession of real, hard potential to be successful.

I myself know a boy by the name of Hassan who has grown a moustache, only to what I would call the same as the boy's in the paper, but a 'tache nonetheless. He's not had a second glance from the people "at the top" and very rightly so.
The mere fact that the school could imagine such a thing as has happened with the boy in the paper is unacceptable.

On an unrelated note, Bernie Ecclestone seems to be taking a bit of a shine to Hitler... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/ ... 633340.ece

And good for him.

All things taken into account, we must view Hitler, as with all humans, from an unbiased perspective. And Bernie is absolutely spot on. Adolf gave an order, and his subordinates wouldn't dare disobey it for fear of being shot. THAT got things done.

Unfortunately, the orders were atrociously horrific and Hitler would indeed shoot anybody who dared disobey them. Not only that, but the things he got done were the worst seen in history. And I'm sure a man of 78, like Mr Ecclestone, having been well and truly alive in the time of Hitler, would know so much as to at least consider the fact he was a vile character. I'm also sure Mr Ecclestone is not directing any appreciation or gratitude towards Mr Hitler in what he's saying. There's nothing wrong with him expressing his right to voice an opinion.

Today is 7/7 and I for one will be thinking of all those that lost their lives in London 4 years ago.

Yes.

It has been a very turbulent time of late. Three stabbings in my area in the past week, two killings as a result of these incidents.
But this is a minute price to pay in comparison with fifty-two people who, on their daily commute, were caught in a game of the worst nature possible - and paid the players of this game with their lives. Absolutely, in the fullest sense of the word, horrific. Vile.

And one cannot but gawp at the true ignorance of the people who designed the memorial. A few metal posts. Half-arsed, quick job intended only to satisfy the complacent public (in their eyes).

We remember.
