We've had two Brits and an Aussie play this variation, and now we get an American!

This is the starting board...

1p
10p
50p
£1
£5
£10
£50
£100
£250
£500
£750

£1,000
£3,000
£5,000
£10,000
£20,000
£35,000
£50,000
£75,000
£100,000
£150,000
£250,000

...before we fire up that Dulux Purpliser! There are 11 red boxes here with all the red amounts, 11 blue boxes here with all the blues, and 11 greens with percentages from 0% to 50%. Whatever green you find is the share of the red that gets moved to the blue.

We do that five times in all - and the game starts with a red, a blue, and a green for the first activation!

No messing! Straight for the full selection!

Let's show all five of those changes, then...

First one: £35,000 paired with £50... 35% change. New amounts: £22,750 and £12,300, which are quite interesting sums to have on the board!

Next up: £50,000 paired with £100, one up both columns... 10% change, much smaller that time. New amounts: £45,000 and £5,100, much easier to work that change out...

Third change: £5,000 paired with £250 making this a very quiet adjustment... 15% change. New amounts: £2,550 and £700.

Flying into the fourth one... £1,000 paired with £5, at least we're bumping up a tiddler a bit... 0% change. Or not.

Final change, with the top four intact at the moment... £100,000 on the move!... £750 getting a piece of it... 30%, no less! That means you now have £70,000 and £30,750 boxes, and we saw how important the bolstered £750 was for Archie...

All of the tiny amounts are still tiny, but the top two are totally intact and there's a couple of very handy additional five-figure sums on this board:

1p
10p
50p
£1
£5
£10
£12,300
£5,100
£700
£500
£30,750

£1,000
£2,550
£5,000
£10,000
£20,000
£22,750
£45,000
£75,000
£70,000
£150,000
£250,000

You've been assigned Box 3 and have five to open in the first round as usual...

May the odds be ever in your favour...

Box 1... 50p! Great start.

Box 5... £5! Another tiddler out of the picture!

Box 7... £22,750. First hit, and you'd helpfully shrunk it earlier.

Box 9... £75,000! Not good...

Box 11... 1p! That is!

Quite the entertaining opening round. Here's where you stand after it...

10p
£1
£10
£12,300
£5,100
£700
£500
£30,750

£1,000
£2,550
£5,000
£10,000
£20,000
£45,000
£70,000
£150,000
£250,000

The Banker said that you started at a disadvantage getting good offers because of all those tiny amounts staying untouched, but of course you've hit three of them now... where are you going?

Archie had a very similar start and got offered £10,000, so let's go with:

PLAYER'S PREDICTION

£9,900

That's fine. Anything 10% or higher and isn't terrible as the worst outcome, hence my prediction. ;)

Regardless, there's no way I'm selling a board this good for four figures, so NO DEAL.

13, 15 and 17, please.

It also means you get some really interesting possible results out of 23, as we saw with Aaron in game 3. ;)

Box 13... £30,750. There goes the most pumped-up blue.

Box 15... £5,000. Expendable.

Box 17... £20,000. A destabilising round, but by no means a disastrous one. Here's the board you've got now...

10p
£1
£10
£12,300
£5,100
£700
£500

£1,000
£2,550
£10,000
£45,000
£70,000
£150,000
£250,000

Make your prediction now...

This Banker usually ups the generosity at the second offer, so let's go with

PLAYER'S PREDICTION

£13,600

NO DEAL and open 21, 22 and 20, please.

At the turning point...

Box 21... £10! That's a good one for sure...

Box 22.. £5,100. Even bolstered, that is perfectly disposable...

Box 20... 10p! How about that? Now you've got a stronger position...

£1
£12,300
£700
£500

£1,000
£2,550
£10,000
£45,000
£70,000
£150,000
£250,000

This board is starting to look seriously tasty, but what will the offer be?

I think the Banker will pitch this around half the average, so let's go:

Not quite, but not bad...

BANKER'S OFFER

£22,500

Kept a bit more powder dry than you thought, but £2,200 off from there is just that bit less than 10%, so it's the 63% that disappears!

BOX 23 OPTIONS

163%
213%
313%
+£19,000
ADD CAR

The final single-offer choice of the game... £22,500, Deal or No Deal?

A fair offer still, but I'm not planning on playing this game like a certain infamous person from May 2008, so NO DEAL .

16, 18 and 14, please

Looking to get rich, but will that get hard?

Box 16... £45,000. Very possibly, as that was serving an important bridging role on the board. But if you keep those top three...

Box 18... £150,000! Oh. This is suddenly dangerous...

Box 14... £10,000. And that won't help either. But that jackpot is still in tow, untouched by both the Purpliser and the picks...

£1
£12,300
£700
£500

£1,000
£2,550
£70,000
£250,000

An interesting board and an even more interesting set of offers. :ponder:

There's only an 11% chance of finding both of the remaining mega-money amounts, but it only takes the jackpot to send the offer down a lot on a board this precarious. Only a 36% chance of keeping both of the biggies and getting a chunky uplift, too.

As I sometimes say, though, the only way to get mega-money out of most games is to take an against the odds risk, so NO DEAL.

12, 10 and 8, please.
